This may be a relatively nice way to get to Europe, but from a pure MR perspective, you could yield a much better cpm ratio by just flying domestic longhauls, and you'd still have a decent chance of getting upgarded to those seats as elite. In any case, thanks for sharing, maclover, I hope it'll help some.

IMHO this is a premium MR; okay, so maybe it's not transpacific business class for $800 each way, but there are Premium Economy products out there that command a premium price and offer nothing more than a slightly bigger seat but with standard economy service. Here we have an opportunity to rack up miles and have as much or more space than Premium Economy. And I believe any Skyteam Elite member could get those seats, right? I think this was well worth mentioning in this thread, thanks Centurion.

You just need ONE person in the record that has ANY level of elite status with Delta to get these domestic first class seats when you make you reservation. The other people traveling with you in your PNR do not need status to get the domestic first class seats. I also have heard that if you pay a Y coach fare you can get these seats without status. I also have heard that what remains can be assigned at the airport to anyone who asks.

Anybody knows if CMB-SFO-CMB ticket validity can be extended beyond 12 months

Hi:

I have return leg of my CMB-SFO-CMB ticket (first leg utilized 30th Apr. 05) unused, and could not travel till now. Any idea on if return leg ticket validity can be extended to travel in July 06. SIN Reservation agent refused to accept it. Thought I will ask the gurus here. TIA

It's always been my understanding that all legs of the ticket must be used within 1 year of the original flight. I've thrown away several unused final segments myself that I certainly wish I could have used at 1 year + x months.

I buy RTW tickets and am meticulous about finishing the final leg within 12 months of the first flight. It might be 12 months less a day, but I really paid very serious attention to that 1 year date.

Thanks a lot. I guess I should try to get refund for this unused portion. This was full fare C class ticket on those low CMB-SFO-CMB fares (hope we will come across such decent fares to-from Asia cities soon). I need those badly as I will be traveling those parts in near future.

have not accessed forum for a while need help with fare calendar

Hi:

Have not used MR tooks in a while. I am looking for attractive C class fares from Asian Cities (BKK, SIN, HKG) to SFO. I used to depend upon a tool "fare calendar" to reserach these fares. Can't seem to find that tool any more. Any suggestions wher to look for such fares. TIA

TPE-LAX is always pretty cheap in C. About $1200. I am soon to fly TPE-NRT (UA), connecting to NRT-LAX (SQ). C fare is $1256. I could have added connections in both HKG and ICN at no extra cost.

I am upping to F on both my segments (using both UA and SQ miles).

ual.com is pricing TPE-SFO C class at about $4500 RT. I thought bying directly on airline web site is always more expensive. Kayak (through redirect to cheapseats.com) is offering the same fare for about $2000 RT C class.

zrs70, do you mind sharing any special tricks you used to grab these fares. TIA

The $1250 is quoted is a one way fare. I have found that on ual.com, it often comes up with an initial fare of over $2500, but then when you hit the "continue" button, it adjusts to $1250. Not a great way to entice a customer!

Also, the UA fare is often a Mon-Thurs fare only. But I beleive that on SQ, the fare is good every day.
