If I book an AI fare which is not under *A, but I route my flights such that I have SQ segments on it, would I still be able to accrue mileage under the SQ FFP or any other *A FFP since I am flying on SQ metal.
Or it actually depends on the airline that issues the ticket?
You will earn *A FFP on the carrier you have selected to credit your miles.
One only needs to travel over the water with the publishing carrier or thier codeshare.
NW has great fares EX: Asia. For 13K+ Miles travel, only 5K has to be on NW. the 8K+ can be on *A. SQ,UA ,OZ NH.

Does this apply to any MPM fare such that for example if you are going to the west coast of usa, the segement over the pacific has to be on the publishing carrier or their codeshare?

Thanks
Yes. Some publishing carriers will allow codeshare partners. It will be in the rules if allowed.
if you use kvs or equiv tool you will find many ex-cmb fares in this range to a variety of NA cities on same carrier. it is that easy! the vast majority of them require UL/NW metal to get cheapest fare and must be issued in cmb by a TA. also, stops in sin/bkk/nrt are allowed, but no US stops allowed. no need to get the MEX fare and jump off in LAX, you can just book straight to LAX for same fare and avoid the lat coupon issue altogether.

2/3 of the once large number of desirable premium cabin EX CMB fares are now gone.
Every time an individual contacts an airline trying to figure out how to book one of these fares or a travel agent contacts the airline trying to do the same, another straw is added to extinguish the fare. No one knows what the last straw will be.
The safest way to book ex CMB fares is through a travel agent who already has experience booking these and will not need to contact the airline to issue the ticket.
Thank you harryhv for the routing suggestion. A little further playing with xpedia's multi-destination search yields:
KUL --> SIN on SQ in biz (morning departure)
SIN --> AKL on SQ in biz (night departure, arrive next morning in AKL)
AKL --> LAX on AC ticket in biz, but flying NZ (same-day late night departure)
Prices at $1,441. Adding LAX --> LAS gets to the OP's $1,568 price.
As previously posted, stopovers (longer than 24 hrs in any intermediate city) blows up the fare due to the HIP provision.
trying to book this..... can't get it as a return... is it one way only. thanks.

Sound fine to me, but how do you book and price this ?
I tried xpedia but no success
My TA had the same problem on Friday. The publishing carrier may have tinkered with it as of Friday .Now over the water it seems has to be on publishing carrier metal.I have not tried ticketing it via SYD;it should price over SYD, as long as the carrier continues to file this fare via SYD should hold as it fits into the MPM+25%.
My TA booked and ticketed early July via AKL .Tried on Friday for Business Associate would not price.Book identical Itinerary which she ticketed early July, the one on Friday would not price at the same price. Way higher.
Tried via Vancouver as well;no luck.
I expected the route to have a month self life, until early August.Which is why I suggested to my Business Associate to book & ticket it ASAP.
That particular carrier tinkers with fare filing once a month in a given week of the month.
I was surprised my TA could not ticket it on Friday. She is going to try again on Monday.Maybe a Glitch. Will know on Monday.
FL.FLT APPLICATION
BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES AND AREA 3
THE FARE COMPONENT MUST NOT INCLUDE TRAVEL VIA THE UNITED
STATES.
AC put this note into the fare rules exactly for the reason I have posted beforehand: AC has no seventh freedom traffic rights to carry passengers directly into the United States from a foreign country other than Canada.
This is to prevent hefty monetary penalties AC has to pay if this is caught by the respective autorities.
There has been a lot of off-topic discussion with regards to sticking to the fare rules or not, or whether to engage in prohibited ticketing practices or not.
The moderators of the Mileage Run forums have determined that Flyertalk is the wrong place to publicly advocate the use of such practices (whether someone engages in such practices or not is of course his/her own decision, but one shall keep this to him/herself).
