Time to give up?? Need UA 6066 (or 2210 doubled) EQM from SFO

Need help! Have been working on this for a while. Need 6066, but only 2210 if doubled. Had planned on a trip over the 12/25-12/31 week, but they are expensive for what is available.

Finally found a $187 SFP-DEN-COS-DEN-SFO flight Sunday 12/12 that got me close enough, but realized (after too much time) that it was a T class ticket and excluded . I really only have Fri 12/10 overnight or round trip Sun 12/12 before the 15th deadline for double EQM.

Appreciate any suggestions from those of you who have also been looking (or anyone else who can appreciate the plight of a poor soul doing this for the first time -- always had enough miles before this year

Thank you Seeksreal and Steamengine. Am grateful for the swift suggestions. I am, unfortunately, ruing the day 2 months ago when I set up dinner plans with my husband's clients for this Saturday night which makes both of these lovely itineraries not work for that reason. (Husband looked at me incredulously at the idea of trying to return to town 2 hours before dinner with a flight through Denver in the winter! He thinks this is a little nuts anyway...) I can probably only manage a double miles shorter run and time is probably getting too tight.

I printed both of these routes out and will try to use them over Christmas week when I have a lot of flexibility. MOST grateful for the commraderie and help

Well, I figured rather than a "run" I would take a "trip". May be out of luck and on to plan b, which as you wisely suggested a few weeks ago was to forget about this year and try to rack up a bunch of miles early next year. If I get busy I can try for status again before the 2/28 cutoff.

This is what happens when you get so used to year after year of status that you forget to check the exact figures. (And to think that with the presence of mind to get the right booking codes for Oct and Nov trips I took I could have did the double miles thing and have been done with it

Many thanks again, seeksreal. I may try to "uncommit" myself tomorrow morning although I am boxed in before noon and am thinking that some early in the year runs to neat places far away is the way to go. I also clearly need more practice finding runs like these, which had I found them earlier might have worked.

Will keep hanging out here and learning from the pros .

Just out of curiosity, how many segments do you have to date? And how many additional segs are planned by years end? And have you already paid the $150 for the double EQM/S's?

Have 18,934 EQM with 14 segments and 1846 EQM that can be doubled from a trip in Oct. Nothing scheduled now until Jan. I have not paid the $150 yet; was waiting until I figured out if I could make it work for any sort of decent price.

It is really too bad the $187 SF0-COS this Sunday was T class. The timing worked really well (leave at 8 am, home by 4:30 if I got lucky on stand-by and 7:30 if not) and although it left me a handful of miles short, I would have chanced it (given my history with United and 2 booked flights in Jan for ~7000 miles). I imagine to get that ininerary with the right COS + $150 would not be worth it. Better to spend the money early next year I think.

(Read your other post. Hillarious )

So once the $150 is paid, you will have 18,934 + 1846 for a total of 20,780 EQMs? Which would mean that you would need 4,220 EQMs? Or 2,110 BIS miles to qualify for Premier? Or 8 segs with the Double EQSs?

Just re-verifiying my math w yours.

OK. So in essense the easiest and cheapest way for you to accomplish your goal would appear to be via segments - but doing it for the miles rather than 'just' for the segments. If I'm figuring right, it would appear that you need 5-6 segs in fares other than S or T.

I'll let you in on a couple of lil' secret fares that I found - the cheapest fares that I know of that qualify for the Double EQS (since you appear positioned to best use them).

The rock bottom cheapest ones that I can find are OW OAK-RNO fares for $60 (WA fare basis) or the other one of $80, fare basis is VA. From your post, I cant tell 4 sure if you're available on SAT, DEC. 11th. The routing on these fares would be OAK-LAX-SFO-RNO and return. You can do the whole thing in one 'restfull day' without an overnite expense. So it's six segments in the appropriate class - and voila - 3K miles before doubling!

I like these fares (in particular) because when you start to do W fares in medium and long haul markets, they sky rocket. These are 'odd' in that they are reasonable.

Sooooooo, IF YOU COULD get W fares round trip, your fare would be $120 plus tax. Total 'all in' would be $166.69 WA. But my gut feeling is that if you're traveling this weekend, you will have to mix and match W and V. IF you do the 12th, a mix and match will definately be needed, and your fare would be $186.60 WA/VA. W out and V back.

There are also 'out and back' overnite options which might give you a nite on the town and get you the W fare both ways. BTW and FWIW, hotels can be had for $18 I do believe.

These W and V fares are special fares that are only allowed to be sold by certain travel agents and by UA direct. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO USE UAL.com. TRUST ME, IT WONT PRICE.

Phone UAL direct and book segment by segment exactly as indicated above. Of course, any other city-pair w a W fare with 5-6 segments will accomplish the same goal. Again, the OAK-RNO fare just happened to be the cheapest that I could find. It is also the MOST difficult fare to work with, because it wont price online. PM me if you have difficulty.

So in the best case scenario, you would have $150 + $166.69 for Premier.

Not bad in my opinion. But only you can determine if Premier itself is worth it.

Brilliant doesn't begin to describe it. I have the flight booked all on Sunday 12/12. If I had only needed 4 segments I would have been in real clover, and home a lot sooner, but I was 110 miles over and needed to do 6. The UAL agent was a hoot. Amazingly enough, I wasn't the first to ask for such a strange routing . He could not get over the fact that I was getting 3000 EQM for $225.60 (bythe time we got all the fare classes right...had a meeting tonight and got to this later than some others evidently ).

Sometime, after the holiday rush, I would love to know how you knew to do this and figured it out. Even the UAL agent could hardly believe it.

Thank you.
