How many Mileage Runs do you do a year?

I am very embarrassed about this, but as I look back on my last three years of travel, it turns out that the majority of my trips have been to accumulate miles for 1K status. As I take Wednesdays off, I am often buzzing round southern California between LAX and SMF, or some other routing, for about $100. I may do this up to 20 times a year! Otherwise, my miles would only add to about 50,000. What an addiction.

You have many fellow travelers.....

My version of this (as one who makes status on segments) is to take a mid-con trip, Bay Area-STL/IND, and do 4 or 5 segments each way.

Or on the 4-5 trips a year I need to make to SNA/ONT to do 4 segments, e.g, SMF-SFO-SBA-LAX-ONT/SNA.

I just booked my first-ever mileage run ... Sigh. I hope this doesn't become a habit!

I don't do true mileage runs. I do book trips to Asia & Europe for anywhere from 2 days to a week. I just booked a $373 RT (including all fees) from SAN-MAD & got the upgrades on all legs! I will be in Madrid for 3 days in January. (I had two old expiring SWUs from US I needed to use!) I have fun on my trips & I am indebted to FT for giving me ideas how to max out my trips!

Hey zrs70,

I wouldn't be too embarassed by you situation. For a measly $2k you get 1k which as near as I can tell is well worth it. (I am just finishing my quest for 1k later this year) I can't measure you time away from home but i bet 1k makes the rest of your travel much better.

Cheers.

Last year, hardly any because my Biz travel was high.

This year, well, I have done the ORD-NRT bit 3 times (Jan/Feb when the fares were so **** cheap) and will do a ORD-JFK-LAX-PHX and back 3 times.

All that just to make AA PLT. <sigh>

None (with a caveat).

All my trips are paid business or leisure trips.

- now the caveat: I often add on segments or meanderings to those trips to increase the "value" of my trip provided it either a) saves me lots of money (as some weird routings often do) or b) doesn't add much time. (so in a sense they are mileage runs)

A lot this year. Otherwise, I'd only be a Premier Executive come March. The really shocking thing is I won't requalify for 1K until December. Oh, my aching butt.
