Yes. CMB-AMS-DTW-LAS for 48,409 LKR per person. The only way DL could book it is 5 hours in AMS and 5 more hours in DTW, arriving LAS at 11:28pm. However, Matrix said 39,809 LKR for this fare and gave better flight times (2 hours in AMS/DTW) arriving at 7:17pm.

I am on hold with DL to see if they can adjust it - even if it means cancel/rebook.

I didn't try every option Matrix gave me, and am afraid to try booking a second (better timed) ticket while my original booking is still valid.

I might be the only one on the thread using this for real transportation.

From the perspective of trying to fly as many segments as possible, yes. All a matter of perspective. After all, to most of the world, we are all completely insane for what has just transpired in this thread

Copy that. 👍

I can book the following week also. 👍 Combined with a positioning flight, I'd be a diamond for sure.

Next question. What's a diamond?

Are you actually doing two of these itineraries? Incredible if you are! But it won't quite get you to Diamond

I rescanned DL.com and found:

CMB-AMS-DTW-LAS (best connections) 168,109 LKR. For some reason Matrix lists this as 39,809 LKR. When I copy it from Matrix to DL it shows the 39,809 LKR, but when I go to pay it reprices at 168,109 LKR.

The longer connections (same day) priced at 48,409 LKR on both Matrix and DL so that is what I have got.

Is there any point to calling DL to see if they can get it to match the Matrix-calculted fare for the better connections?

A roundtrip would be nice, but it is too far out. This isn't a milage run for me since I already had a OW ticket to Vietnam.

The fare inventory is probably cached by Matrix and Delta has newer fare inventory. If every fare is not U, X, or V that is why your price is higher as discussed upthread.

My cheap (already booked) fare is coded L by DL but Matrix lists it as U.

This is likely because the KLM fare inventory was cached. If it repriced when you clicked purchase then it was also cached by Delta. You may or may not be able to find other inventory by playing with dates. You might also be able get a phone agent to ticket it in U, although that is harder when partners are involved.

All the options use the same initial KL flight. It seems to be the two DL flights that bump it up.

Be aware that if there is a schedule change to one or more flights on your itinerary, Delta could automatically re-book you on a more direct route between CMB and LAS with no Hawaiian adventure. This has happened to me in the past.

If I were closer to DM spend this would be so tempting.

Yup - I meant price. These rupee prices make them look like miles.
