I'm doing this exact run in August. You're pretty spot on with the EQD calculation but EQM will be more like 38-39k due to the 1.5 multiplier for PE.

I just booked this trip for Labor Day weekend. With a transcon (PVD-LAX) on either end. I'll be gone 5 days with only a single night in a hotel (in AKL).
I'm really hoping for at least one op-up during the trip. The AKL-HKG segments seem to be pretty full, so I'm hoping my lowly AA Plat status will give me something. I'm also traveling solo, though I don't know if that helps my chances any.
