LX EU to LAX/SFO 440EUR r/t

LX has low fares on different EU - West Coast flights, e.g. AMS - ZRH - SFO - ZRH - AMS für a little under EUR 440 with good connections times, wide availability in March, possibly more. Booking through UA has decreased the prices further in some special cases by about EUR 20.

Curious about the mileage earning math here. Looks like these are booking into K, which is pretty standard for LX. If crediting to UA:

Book on LX/LH- $460
EQM: 12,430 (w/o 500 mi min)
RDM: 6,215

Book on UA with 016 ticket - ~$440? = $340 PQD (based on the one I saw)
EQM: 12,430 (w/o 500 mi min)
RDM: 3,740 (for a 1K)

$20 for 2,500 RDM? I'd pay it.

I don't really see the benefit of booking on UA.com for this deal. For me as a gold, it'd be even more RDM for $20. Gimme gimme! Plus the possible hassle of not being able to assign seats, etc.

1Ks get 100% RDM bonus on LX, so you would in fact have 12,430 RDM and thus would definitely not want to book this through UA.

But you need to book on United, because K fares redeem for nothing when *not* booked on United...

Didn't know about the 1K RDM's for K... first year being a 1K. Just booked a K flight to DC to walk in the protest March day after inaguration

That is incorrect. When flying Swiss booked in K on 724 stock you earn 100% PQM and 50% RDM (doubled to 100% for 1Ks)
