This seems to be pricing about the same from many airports in the U.S., not only to PEK, but many others in China. I used dates in the fall.
I found it from AUS, PHX, and DEN; I'm sure there are others.
It isn't limited to AA, pricing (at least from AUS) seems to be the same on all 3 alliances.

I'm not too fond of the class Q booking on JAL with 30% base miles accumulated and 50% of that EQM, but JAL is a better plane than AA, and the price is pretty decent even excluding the short distance between Tokyo and Beijing
