As of March 2015 all U.S. citizens planning travel to Venezuela must have a tourist visa. According to the website of the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, U.S. citizens should plan to apply for a visa three months in advance of travel. U.S. citizens should expect to pay $30 for a one-year, multiple-entry visa good for a 90- day stay in Venezuela. All U.S. citizens planning travel to Venezuela are urged to check both the Venezuelan Embassy’s English and Spanish webpages regularly for the most current information about visa application requirements and procedures. U.S. citizens should direct visa questions to the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, D.C. or Venezuelan Consulates in Boston, New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, San Francisco, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Visit the Embassy of Venezuela website for the most current visa information.

I caution anyone who is tempted to bite on this fare. CCS is not a place I would recommend to anyone. I travel there often and it is extremely dangerous. You aren't even safe in the airport. Google Egyptian who was robbed and killed. If you miss your connection home good luck because you will need it. I would never trust any taxi or anyone I didn't know for help. They will target you and will be robbed at best case scenario. Usually kidnapped held for ransom and then killed, or they just rob you and kill you. If you choose to spend the night bring your own toilet paper and soap because most hotels have run out. On a bright note one could earn a lot of money if you brought in condoms and deodorant to resell. You could easily make 1000%+ on your product.

Also, the first thing I saw just now Googling Caracas under news is a mob setting fire to an alleged robber. Just for reference.

Venezuelan here. Really good fare. All West Coast to CCS seems to be on sale with most airlines. Even cheaper than MIA-VZLA.
So here's the thing.
Caracas is great and your dollars can take you very, very far if you want to spend a few days in the city. 5-star hotels are at record-lows (if you are able to pay in local currency) and amazing meals will cost you 5-10-15$.
If you were ever interested in visiting Caracas, this is the fare. No need to spend miles and if you have a friend/contact in the city they can keep you safe and you'll have a lot of fun.
Said that, as a pure MR same-day turn. AVOID.
Unless you have a really good excuse (say, you're a travel blogger or trying to fly every route that the airline offer) or perhaps you are accompanied by a Venezuelan-passport holder...it just really isn't worth the potential trouble.
I am Venezuelan and *I* avoid same-day turns in CCS.
Technically you'll be flying out on the same airplane and with the same crew but there's just too many things that could go wrong.
Perhaps if you could be accompanied/escorted airsidd by the airline personnel...but even then...not worth the hassle.
Many more good deals to more MR friendly airports and countries.
