Just browsing and found. Few dates in APR and 5/4 as well. Sample link below. Connect via MIA. Does require $30 Travel Visa.

That shouldn't draw much attention. Hope the questioning doesn't cause you to miss your return flight.

You'll either want to travel or you won't.

Don't you now need a visa with a US passport to go to CCS?
Some years back I did a same-day turn in CCS on UA, no questions asked.

Yes, you do need a visa acquired in advance now. Don't know if a same day turn would work (and I personally would NOT try it).

https://travel.state.gov/content/pas...venezuela.html

As of March 2015 all U.S. citizens planning travel to Venezuela must have a tourist visa. According to the website of the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, U.S. citizens should plan to apply for a visa three months in advance of travel. U.S. citizens should expect to pay $30 for a one-year, multiple-entry visa good for a 90- day stay in Venezuela. All U.S. citizens planning travel to Venezuela are urged to check both the Venezuelan Embassy’s English and Spanish webpages regularly for the most current information about visa application requirements and procedures. U.S. citizens should direct visa questions to the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, D.C. or Venezuelan Consulates in Boston, New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, San Francisco, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Visit the Embassy of Venezuela website for the most current visa information.

I caution anyone who is tempted to bite on this fare. CCS is not a place I would recommend to anyone. I travel there often and it is extremely dangerous. You aren't even safe in the airport. Google Egyptian who was robbed and killed. If you miss your connection home good luck because you will need it. I would never trust any taxi or anyone I didn't know for help. They will target you and will be robbed at best case scenario. Usually kidnapped held for ransom and then killed, or they just rob you and kill you. If you choose to spend the night bring your own toilet paper and soap because most hotels have run out. On a bright note one could earn a lot of money if you brought in condoms and deodorant to resell. You could easily make 1000%+ on your product.

Yep, I would personally like to go to Caracas but it will be years before I even consider it at this rate.

Also, the first thing I saw just now Googling Caracas under news is a mob setting fire to an alleged robber. Just for reference.

Things are much worse now, but before when I did my same day turn, it was Gate>Lounge>Gate without any problems, all with an escort, albeit on UA.

Leaving the airport - I'll pass for now

Venezuelan here. Really good fare. All West Coast to CCS seems to be on sale with most airlines. Even cheaper than MIA-VZLA.

So here's the thing.

Caracas is great and your dollars can take you very, very far if you want to spend a few days in the city. 5-star hotels are at record-lows (if you are able to pay in local currency) and amazing meals will cost you 5-10-15$.

If you were ever interested in visiting Caracas, this is the fare. No need to spend miles and if you have a friend/contact in the city they can keep you safe and you'll have a lot of fun.

Said that, as a pure MR same-day turn. AVOID.

Unless you have a really good excuse (say, you're a travel blogger or trying to fly every route that the airline offer) or perhaps you are accompanied by a Venezuelan-passport holder...it just really isn't worth the potential trouble.

I am Venezuelan and *I* avoid same-day turns in CCS.

Technically you'll be flying out on the same airplane and with the same crew but there's just too many things that could go wrong.

Perhaps if you could be accompanied/escorted airsidd by the airline personnel...but even then...not worth the hassle.

Many more good deals to more MR friendly airports and countries.

I wouldn't mislead anyone here about the affordability. Caracas is one of the most expensive place in the world under the official exchange rate. How would and average flyer talk member go about exchanging USD on the black market without the help of a local? That 5 star hotel is much better when they are telling guest to bring there own soap. I would bet 10/1 that anyone here would get ripped off trying to change money there. I don't even change money there myself. I wire money to an offshore account with a trusted individual and they wire it into a local bank. Upon arrival my contact brings me a wad of cash. I would agree you could have fun about 5 years ago but it a totally different situation today. I will say the food is outstanding and that's my favorite part of going(arepas, pizza and steak), But traveling around is just so sketchy. Everyone I know there has been robbed, kidnaps, car stolen, shot, killed, blackmailed and bribed at some point. I think Caracas is the only place I know where everyone hasa GPS tracker built into there car. And I love how the thieves threaten to kill if you don't pay them to get the car back. Who would even think to steal a car, call them and demand money and then you are forced to pay or they will come after you. You are right about this being the best fare ever, typically CCS is 1500-2500 r/t. But lately the fares are coming down. I suspect because the airlines only sell tickets in USD now to avoid the losses with all the local currency.
