Happy 2016!

Please use this thread to post or to follow Economy Fares which are 'Good Deals' but where the cost per mile is more than 3-4 cents per mile, which is the usual upper limit for what is considered a true 'MR Deal'.

A few requests for posting in the thread:
  • When posting 'Good deals' fares: please post the city pairs/airport codes and pricing in the body of the post and not just in the post title as it isn't visible for those reading it on mobile devices.
  • Note that you can subscribe to this thread: go to "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread and click on "Subscribe to this thread".
  • This is not a fare request thread. Any fare requests will be deleted.

True story. It was cheaper for me to go to JNB than LHR (even though I have a 10hr layover in LHR).

Yup. That's how airfares are currently. I'm not going to get into the reasons of it because that's beyond the scope of this thread, but if you're curious as to why it was cheaper to go to JNB than LHR there are numerous discussions about that throughout this site as well as other articles on the web.

Haha I've read most of them. I am able to expense all my travel under a certain amount. So I just find the cheapest MR and take it.

Baggage fees, though. ~$50-150 depending upon type. (Still, cheap.)

Doesn't matter--it's summer travel.

Airfare SFO-AMS ranges from $1300-$1800 for June travel.

I just got my buddy booked RT with 2hr layovers in Iceland and checked bag and seat selection in Row 2 for $716 RT for June. He was stoked as he was prepared to lay out $1300. (I was able to book my flights for the same trip on BA last October for $1600 RT in J )

An awesome deal for those looking for the absolute cheapest deal to get across the Atlantic!!!!! ^^^^^^^^^

see similar fare ex BWI/BOS - Iceland

Flew WOW BWI/CDG earlier this year for $99 OW. Returned with UA OSL/WAS for $377 R/T and used AA one-way miles for my final return.

Right now there's $46 rt LAX-YVR ($45.86) on several Tuesday/Wednesdays/Saturdays through March/April on DL, but no MQDs, apparently because the base fare is $0, and no MQMs, because it's a T fare on WestJet.

It's on a commuter plane, so there's a good chance you'll check your bags at the gate.

Still, less than $50 anywhere in the US is a good deal, imo.

For UA-only metal the routing is ORD-IAD-DXB, not EWR.
But you gotta hurry up: Last flight is on 1/23 outbound, 1/25 inbound !

TPA-MEX and MCO-MEX are priced similarly and open up some more lucrative options for routing (of course useless/not of interest if starting in IAH )
