That's your only flight on AA metal that you can use your SWU.
btw, will you get only 0.5 miles since the other flights are on JAL, as opposed to not showing AA flight numbers ?

AA Flyer, want to take a guess why?

As you wrote, if your flight does not have an AA flight number, you'll accrue AAmiles & points based on the partners "deal":

https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/e...lines/main.jsp

Although the link displays JAL flight numbers, after linking to AA.com, you'll see AA flight numbers: 8404, 8499, 8497, 154.

Actually... even though JAL flight numbers show up on the link, http://goo.gl/flights/fuB6, if you follow the link all the way to AA Ticketing, AA flight numbers are displayed.

The BAD news is, the itinerary at $846.70, is $50. bucks CHEAPER than my booking. Not fair.

I actually have to fly this route in the spring... Thinking of doing PE the whole way. That earns 1.5 points and 1.1 miles right??

No - not if you're thinking EQM for miles. The 1.1 multiplier is for RDM's only... EQM earning is at regular 100% rates.

When flying Premium economy (W class?) on Japan airlines one would earn 1.1 redeemable miles for every miles flown. Its basically a 10% bonus.

And yes I was referring to RDM not EQM

A solid days rest, but for people that enjoy the F Lounges (like me), the connection times are too short.

There are hotels 15 minutes from CGK that will (depends) allow an 02.00 early check-in, so only one day charge.

I'm also ticketed for ORD-DFW-HKG-CGK, 5x this Jan-Feb, 2016 for an EXP MR @ 109,395 AAmiles (Status until Feb 2018 - if AA doesn't make any changes to the FF program).

I think i missed this promo. Is it still valid

No "Promo".

The thread that caught my attention was started by Vishesh on August 8, 2014.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...t-4-2-cpm.html

You can consider routing AA, xNRT for a better chance at the SWU, and much shorter connection times. Another option is xHKG, thinking MCE, row 16 (legs stretched out on the Rolly), and the 15 + 4 hours (39A bulkhead), is better than 13 + 8.

For many, the MAJOR drawback, the deal breaker, to routing xHKG, is the 15 hour overnight LO in HKG, and other long LO times.

NOTE:
After arriving HKG, AA 137 @ 18.35, the CX @ 19.10 connection time is too short, and CX @ 00.10 is not a code share flight, so you're out the next day at 09.25-13.20.

If your Emerald status, like extra lounge time, and think the fancy food and drinks are a perks, than xHKG is the better option.

But having said that, it is a bit excessive. There is an additional 7+ hours LO in HKG on the return. So, regarding traditional MR construction, the LO times are horrible, absolutely horrible.

Travel tips:
"Before the DFW connection, you'll want to get an AA boarding pass with PRE"
Went to a local market around 04.00..."

In April 2015, routing ORD-DFW-HKG-CGK, the average ticket price = $921. Nine months before a Jan 2015 departure, MCE was empty.

On many days, the MR, routing NRT, is still pricing our around $900.+ (see below).
The HKG routing, explained above, is now much more expensive.
Routing NRT has WAY better connection times, than xHKG.
Without xDFW, the AAmiles are much less. ORD-NRT-CGK = 6,274 AAmiles
Flying ORD-DFW-NRT or HKG-CGK = around 11,000 AAmiles

On many days, the MR, routing NRT, is still pricing our around $900.+.
Play with the dates, http://goo.gl/flights/QUAC

If it's less than 24 hours.

I've received a enormous amount of help over the years at FT, life changing information. I'm "compelled" and grateful to give back. But, and this is to anyone, to really get an understanding of a subject, a tactile relationship has to develop.

It's not that I've never asked an easily researchable question on FT, but finding answers on your own pulls from many resources, and similar to AA's Mileage Multiplier (except it's free), you get a bigger bang for your "buck".

That's EXP status for $3,675.

Just to say, if you choose the 4 day turn around, there are more cheap dates available. It's almost the same as the 3 day (depart CGK @ 21.25), because you depart CGK at 06.45, and arrive USA @ 15.20, instead of 07.55.

Also, on the three day night 21.25 departure, you're driving to the airport right smack dab in the middle of rush hour traffic, and in CGK, it's possibly the worst in the world. The 06.45 of the four day turn around is much better.

Although, the 4 hour LO in NRT (extra 2 hours) is better for food and booze.

Excellent find. Just put DFW-NRT-CGK on hold to complete EXP status challenge for 25k EQM. Was able to ticket as all AA, so it should be 100% EQM. Will be in CGK for 30 hours, and NRT for 19 hour LO (looking forward to seeing a bit of Tokyo).

I'm paranoid, so I'll call and double check with AAdvantage desk tomorrow. I'm out of NYC, so will need to nest a LGA-DFW r/t to bookend this.

@zznoname, thanks for the advice about the 21.25 departure! Need to do some more research on what to do in CGK.
