DL/AA: Europe/USA-GRU $479 ai, 14k-18k mi

I see these European cities in the $400s and $500s, most on kayak, goog flights or skyscanner:
FCO, TRN, MXP, ZRH, AMS, CPH, ARN, CDG

And these American ones in the $400s and $500s:
DTW, SLC, MSP

Examples:
Nov. 15-23 TRN-GRU, $479
Aug. 19-26, SLC-GRU $444 (skyscanner)

Looks good til Feb '16.

Why would people not know about the cost of the visa or the possible hassle? I mean, if you are mileage running, you should know, eh? Maybe i'm being too naive.

Some people have 10-yr visas already, or don't need them at all. Plus it's worth getting one even if you don't have it!

As some aaron1262 pointed out, many European countries do not need a paid visa. As crunchy pointed out, many travelers already have a visa for Brazil as they are 10 years now from the states! ^

We get a new thread every 2-3 days to GRU/GIG from somewhere in the US. Yes they are great deals, and its good that someone points out the Visa requirements, as many folks in the US arent likely used to dealing with Visa's if they fly to Europe, etc.

On the bright side, I got my Visa on Tuesday in Houston... so im good for these MR's

Having done it, you don't need a visa if you stay in the international gate/transit area, presumably on a MR.

You may not need the visa if you remain airside in Brazil, but, will DL or AA let US passport holders on the plane in the first place, without a valid visa?

Nope

They aren't supposed to. When checking in at the counter, they will ask for your visa. If you do online checkin, then they will page you at the gate before boarding begins usually to verify that you have it. At least that's what protocol they are supposed to follow.

i was thinking about doing a run at GRU on 07'/04 when I saw J was only $1999. but unsure of the visa situations. did not know that it might be caught like that by the airlines.

Why do people always jump on the visa thing with Brazil? Most of the world doesn't need one. You don't get people reminding everyone about visas on every single fare to China.
