Just as a minor correction - EY does NOT earn anything on AA except redeemable miles. They are not status miles, and if your primary point is to collect the miles, you'd be better to outright buy them.

I met a guy flying this route the other direction. He joined us in AUH to reach Sydney. I have never seen anyone look so horrible at the end of a flight as he did in Sydney. These are some pretty brutal flights...prepare accordingly!
