As others have said, an amazing deal. I think I paid about $200 for the domestic JJ trip GRU-IGU.

I can't see Brazil moving too quickly--maybe a decade? Brazil is almost as clear as Chile was about it being retaliatory. Brazil's rejection rate of visas is still a bit too high. But yes, I can see Brazil working its way into the VWP over the next decade or so.
Argentina has the low rejection rate and was previously in the VWP but am not sure the current intent they have. At least from the most recent round of changes, they seem to be moving in the opposite direction: I entered by land several times, as a visa was not required at the time, but now is for all entries. I guess the other question is: Is Argentina stable enough for the US to be happy? A consistently sinking peso here is not a good sign--was at 3/USD when I went in 2007, then about 5ish/USD in late 2012, and is now up to 9/USD.

Yes, on the outbound ex-LAX in October. Includes an AM flight, so there is an additional stop at MEX. $386.
Haven't looked for one without the long LIM stop on the inbound.

Still, if you've ever wanted to go, it won't be cheaper than this.
For Brazil, USA citizens need visas in advance. For Argentina, it's a reciprocity fee, not a visa. You pay it on line and print the receipt to bring with you (or show a passport with a sticker showing that it was paid previously).

Remember too that if you're connecting through Buenos Aires, you will probably have to change airports, so be sure to allow enough time or do a stopover.

What dates did you use for this? Did you use the LAN website to book?

I also hold a Salvadoran passport, so I do not need visa to enter Brazil.

Now, the question is: Will LAN let me board at JFK?

Just canceled my original JFK-LIM-IGU//IGU-GRU-LIM-JFK for November (cheapoair) and rebooked JFK-SCL-GIG//GIG-IGU//IGU-GRU-LIM-JFK (Expedia).
No long connections.

For those crediting to AA, be aware that the intra-S. America flights booking into O don't get full credit.
Some legs are showing as O, B, or Y depending on the routing.

Code:
VIA LA O/H REQUIRED O- FARES BETWEEN SCL-IPC
VIA LA H/Y REQUIRED WITHIN CHILE
VIA LA B/Y REQUIRED WITHIN PERU
VIA LA B/Y REQUIRED WITHIN ARGENTINA
VIA LA B REQUIRED WITHIN COLOMBIA
VIA LA B REQUIRED WITHIN ECUADOR
VIA LA Y REQUIRED WITHIN BRAZIL
VIA LA B REQUIRED O- FARES BETWEEN BRAZIL-SOUTH
VIA LA S/O REQUIRED O- FARES WITHIN SOUTH AMERICA
