You may be flying 19,262 miles, but you won't be earning 19,262 miles if you select the JL codes.

@skunker - True, you have to book it all under AA flight numbers to earn 100% AA miles. I tried it on aa.com, and can book it for $635.80.

In all fairness, this was posted on The Flight Deal this morning. Still a great bargain and hoping this drives a new round of competitive pricing wars with UA.

Routing through DFW-HKG on the outbound and NRT-DFW on the return yields 21,306 miles at just under 3 cpm if booked using all AA codes. I have one on hold over Labor Day.

I did the same itinerary that I purchased to attend the KUL Do in January. I was also able to apply a SWU to the return leg from NRT-DFW-ORD that cleared immediately.

I'm new to this, so this may be a stupid question, but...
If I signed up for a Platinum level challenge, I would need 10,000 qualifying points. Economy earns .5 points per miles. This is nearly 20,000 miles, and with clever routing can exceed 20,000. Would this be all I would need to qualify for elite status for the year?????
