VX: DAL-SFO-AUS $47 O/W 1.58cpm; $157 for first

Tues/Wed/Sat flights, book by Mar 4, travel by June 10 - Fairly limited dates

VX's promotion has DAL-AUS on sale, and allows routing through SFO once again. This works for both DAL-SFO-AUS and AUS-SFO-DAL

$47 for DAL-SFO-AUS or AUS-SFO-DAL in economy (1.58cpm)
$157 for DAL-SFO-AUS or AUS-SFO-DAL in first (5.28cpm)

VX is eligible for accrual to KrisFlyer — 100% of distance flown in S class and 150% of distance flown in D class.

Yes but probably not at booking. DAL-SFO-AUS looks like it'll only book this itin:

Dallas/Fort Worth (DAL) to San Francisco (SFO) — Wed, May 13
Virgin America 713
Dep: 8:00 am
Arr: 9:50 am
First (D)

San Francisco (SFO) to Austin (AUS) — Wed, May 13
Virgin America 218
Dep: 11:30 am
Arr: 4:55 pm
3h 25m
First (D)
For $35 at either DAL or SFO on day of travel, you can do a same-day confirmed flight change, changing the SFO-AUS flight to the later flight (5:15 p.m. departure). You can then miss that flight and invoke VX's two-hour flat-tire rule (it's on the website), allowing you to standby for the next morning's flight. This would require availability on both flights so it's not a sure bet, but it works just fine.

Don't try it the other way around -- if you just "miss" the 11:30 a.m. flight, they'll put you standby for the 5:15 p.m. out of SFO, but then there's actually no way to "miss" that flight and roll over to the next day.

I'm using this is a one way to SFO from DAL. Anyway to come back from SFO with this structure, I need 3 nights in SFO, any suggestions on coming back from Dallas by tricking VX fare?
