dangerous for US passport as it requires a Visa to stay overnight but if misconnected they should be able to rebook you through CDG/AMS

Great price.
US passport to Moscow requires a Visa but transfer within airport does NOT

Although now there is MQDs requirement but there are ways to go around it
1) if you qualify a waiver with AMEX 25k spend threshold,
2) you have an overseas address with supporting document showing that you do live there and possible be your primary residences (Phone Bill, Bank Statement) as MQDs are only for US residence

there are still awesome value to get Diamond with Delta, in light of their new Global Upgrade
I have upgrade me and my bf on SEA-SFO,JFK-SVO-JFK, SFO-SEA

going to Europe for 2 weeks. SFO-JFK-SFO has been waitlisted and not cleared yet
GUC almost always have good availability on SEA-HKG-SEA 1 month in advance.

That's correct for a same-day turn. Don't want a USA-SVO-USA mileage runner to be caught unaware.

But a Russian VISA isn't necessary for a connection to a third country.

Correct. No Russian visa for me but have connected onwards in SVO without issue.

connect onwards to 3rd country has no problem unless 3rd country requires Visas that you don't have.

I am going to transfer to Europe thru SVO. have a Hong Kong Passport tho. Is it possible to get a fully refundable flight for US folks just to do the round trip tho?

Great info for US travellers. He would be able to go if there are any sort of connecting flight though I belive. perhaps getting a fully refundable ticket but then refund it is the best

I have read about EU residents going to Russia and back without visa... and it is not that you can't.... but rather Delta does not want to risk having to fly you back... as such, they deny you before you go.

When he tried explaining a mileage run... a same day JFK CDG SVO CDG JFK trip... they just did not believe him... or why anyone would do that.

Thats common sense, to board a plane you need a visa. OP stated that:US passport to Moscow requires a Visa but transfer within airport does NOT"

Not working like that.

Russia doesnt reuqire a transit Visa so it Does work if you are just transferring to any other EU countries that doesn't need US visa

Was it on one ticket? YMMV arguing with a check in agent if you book JFK - SVO on one ticket and then SVO - CDG on another...
