I commuted almost daily for about two years. With advance purchase fares, It was cheaper for the client to fly me back and forth each day than to put me up in a hotel or pay for relocation.

On the plus side, I'm still completely confident driving on the left in a left hand drive.

Sorry for the late update as I haven't had any time to post. I stopped by the counter in SIN and the girls seemed oblivious to this promotion, but made a few calls and reconfirmed the waiver after like 25 minutes of being on the phone. However, they weren't able to provide me an end date. I managed to get this ticketed again for next week so I don't think it was a fluke. Normally I book online even if I'm heading to the airport without a ticket just to avoid standing at the ticketing counter. Even at 70 or 80 USD RT online, which is currently around the normal price on MH, I think the fare is a steal. I can't imagine ever seeing DFW/IAH or another comparable route in the US this cheap.

I didn't ask if you could originate from KUL either as that hadn't occurred to me. I gain status through EQP, and occasionally EQM and haven't done a MR ever. :-/ So didn't give much thought to what information would be relevant to someone else.

As for the reasons for the deal, I might have an explanation. Being a resident of these parts, I take the SIN/KUL quite frequently and its been extremely empty flights since middle of last year. I don't believe this is due to any of recent incidents related to the crashes. This route, like most cross-border hub to hub routes in Asia, are extremely competitive. With 8 different airlines flying KUL/SIN, and 40+ flights a day, there's bound to be some price wars being played out. Tigerair and Jetstar have been on and off promoting $0 fares on this route over the last 6-7 months. I think MH, given the situation their in, are just happy filling their planes.

Regarding the 'waiving of fees', while I didn't get breakdown in what the price is, the amount seems to be about the same amount of what the taxes would normally be. So I'm guessing it's really a $0 fare.

Thanks for sharing the name 'Baht Run'. Had to go read up on that.

Does this also apply for OW or is it RT only?

So you're saying SIN-KUL RT on MH Y for about S$100?

This fare is only available purchasing from the counters? Cause I usually see S$141 price for RT.

I believe hessinger got it at US$30 for a RT.

This is an amazing fare nonetheless.

Gonna try it later when I go to the airport.

He never gave a final price. I was seeing $14 base fare flights on mh.com, coming out to ~$80SGD return.

Sorry for not clarifying currency. The finally charge on my credit card is 32.4 USD. I rarely use my Singapore cards unless using NETS. The finally price in SGD is 43.43.

Should it help anyone, I'm booked on MH628 2/2 and MH619 2/4.

1) Go to MAS ticketing counter at T2 Row 9
2) Ask to purchase OW or RT tickets to KUL at a discounted rate and show OW Elite status?

I've just gotten MH Silver (OW Ruby), is that eligible?

Would the staff understand about the discount?
