That I am not sure about. Does anyone have experience transiting SVO?

They wouldn't let you board without a visa, though, right?

Helpful, but I don't see any conclusive evidence that you can do an immediate turn without the visa. Hmm...

But if you didn't have a valid visa, they'd deport you. You'd take the next flight... oh wait! You booked the next flight.

So tempted to book for my school's spring break (I'm a teacher) - but would be going alone. Any safe? I survived 6 months in Beijing, but there wasn't the Cold War 2.0 going on then.

Second-hand knowledge here, but my banker went to Russia about 3 months ago and said she was treated like a celebrity in Moscow, and didn't feel any negatives with what's going on.

My journey was two years ago but they allowed 24 hrs in the airport but I had to show I was going to a country other than my original country. JFK-SVO-AMS-DTW-JFK was my itin.

If the rules haven't changed you will not be allowed to board the aircraft as out and back wasn't allowed two years ago. Worthwhile to check current mention/dialogue.

I've traveled over the world, including Russia, and never perceived a cold shoulder as a result of my American passport. The Russians are warm and friendly, and Moscow is fascinating. Go for it!
