I don't do MR's so not sure this is of any help, but I do know these fares are cheap. Either do the round trip back to Vancouver in one day, or else stay overnight in Phoenix.
~ US $191.

This is totally helpful, I wanna see Canucks Coyotes in Oct, so I'm on it!

Edit: Crap, I can't replicate this. Best I've found (dep Oct 28/29, return 31) is around $350 CAD. Any hints on where you found this?

I don't think you can do what you're trying. To get the fare at $254 CAD your only option that I can see is to fly into Phoenix and return to Vancouver the same day, or make your return the next day (no extensions beyond that).

You can see the fares at Kayak (using +- 3 days) or on the calendar at Google Flights.

Isn't that like 7.7cpm though? Doesn't seem like a great deal.

Yes, it does look like the max is 1 night. The only way I could see this working is a 7am departure on 10/30 from YVR through PDX that gets into PHX at 1:46pm (in time for a 7pm game), returning 7:35am on 10/31 with a ~12hr layover in LAX for US$192. There are worse ways to spend a Friday and Saturday, I suppose

That's fine by me, I'm gonna try and find it again, I'm basically going just for that game so this works.

For the CPM guy, it's not a great deal, but it's more for the game/experience and crossing off yet another one on the list of NHL arenas. I'm more than 2/3 done

But how are you gonna do that with a same-day turnaround? :P Unless you find a 1pm game or so

But okay, that's a noble idea

YYZ-SFO for around $303 USD throughout the fall. Works out to 5.8 cpm if you connect through DFW -- not MR territory but definitely a great deal

Either you read it wrong or understood it wrong. It was departing YVR Oct 30 departing PHX Oct 31.

1 day turn.

I did find it btw, now just debating if I wanna do it or spend double and go to dallas as well.

Bingo ^. And a walk along the Strand (promenade along the beach) or on the beach . "How did you get a sunburn watching a hockey game, eh?!"
