Thanks for sharing! ^ Just in case it was an oversight, you might want to fly back from dubai before 3/1/15 in order to maximize your award miles (if that matters to you).

Please correct me. I called UA and asked specifically about departing before March 1, 2015, but returning after and being under the old system of miles accrual. I was told it would be as long as my trip started before March 1, 2015 I would be under the old system. That said, if I am wrong, please give me the rule so I will not misinform users of this site.

Your outbound will earn you 100% miles but the return will be based on dollar spent. That said, you might still be able to cancel your booking if it is made within the last 24 hours.

When will this program update take effect?
The change to how you earn award miles will apply to most tickets for travel departing on or after March 1, 2015, regardless of when you purchase the ticket. The new options for using miles will be available in early 2015 – be sure to watch your email for more details.
