First time post, long time lurker...
Sorry in advance if not worthy...

Found this route that will finally get me AA EXP again..

Those of you on AA who need 13K+ EQ miles for 0-1 day returns and have little time off (as I do)...a few weekends available leaving Fri or Sat; your choice of leaving from EWR (on B787) or JFK (B747)

Route is EWR/JFK-LHR-(BAH)DOH, DOH(BAH)-LHR-JFK/EWR

LHR-DOH-LHR is a direct flight (but not nonstop) however with short stopover in BAH(Same flight #s)

BA Flights earn 100% EQMs with AA

Thanks for posting FobbyFlyer! I went ahead and bought this out of IAD. It will be my first 2015 MR. Looking forward to seeing a bit of Doha.

NP Gringo.. enjoy!

I think there's a tourist visa fee on arrival, I think its about $30 USD.
I'm not too sure if that's the latest and accurate price... I'm doing a same day return myself in Dec so I'm not sure if I have to pay that as well but $30 is acceptable in either case.

Can you or anyone on here confirm the fee and if its required for a 2 hour stay at DOH?

Thanks
Fobby

I booked this out of NYC for January. 1 night in Doha for my first MR in 2015 as well. And it goes without saying, thank you Fobby! Time to ditch DL and onto Oneworld. I may buy another one for February to serve as positioning for other trips, hopefully the price sticks around.

I will have 6 hours in Doha on March 15th. Let me know if someone else there then too. Also any ideas what to do during that time?

Can anyone pls comment on the efficiency of Doha’s airport and how much time we should allot to transfer to another flight (on another airline/ticket).

Also, would checking in baggage increase this time significantly?

We are looking to land at 6:15 and take either the 8:25 / 9:15 / 10:25 flight out.

The flight will be KLM to either Flydubai/Qatar/emirates.

Thanks!

In my (limited, one-time) experience, I found it very efficient for connections. The caveat was that I was connecting from one Qatar Airlines flight to another (MEL-DOH to DOH-JNB), but was able to do so in 45 minutes.

No Visa Required for Short Transits at DOH

Hello All,

I added miles and reduced the fare on a European itin a few months ago routing via DOH. Upon arrival, follow the signs for Transiting Passengers. You will have your bags inspected, primarily for alcohol. After that you will remain plane side at the new airport with no visa requirement.

This is cheaper than a BA Award.

I discovered that DFW-LHR-DOH and back is ~$692 RT on BA. Found a bunch of weekend flights, and a lot of flights throughout Feb-Mar. This is ~15980 miles RT, so 4.3cpm

A 3X & AARP can knock another $150-200 or so off.

EDIT:
Answered my own question...

Booked for a weekend turn 1/24/14 to 1/26/14. Hope to see someone on the flights.
