UA/ET: SEA-JNB November $1000 cmp 4.16

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but I'm guessing this fare is coming up because of the new codeshare agreement with ET. The dates I was looking at were Nov 2-11, but is looks like there is decent availability.

ex-SAN $978 4.1cpm
ex-LAX $995 4.2cpm
ex-BOS $905 4.5cpm
ex-DEN $995 4.5cpm

Is it really due to a new agreement or Ebola?

Probably not due to Ebola since neither Eastern (ADD) or Southern (JNB) Africa has confirmed cases...

ITA Matrix a good start looking for fares calendar shows over $>1100 when I search but then specific itins result in $1000 fare. And, in "O"class which is 100% RDM and 100% EQM on UA.

Note, as with many of UA's *Alliance partners flying down to Joburg (LX and LH aside), no elite RDM bonuses.

Overall, the UA/ET fares are running ~$400 less than others

Avoiding Johannesburg because of Ebola is even more ridiculous than avoiding New York City because you're afraid of earthquakes in San Francisco.

NYC-SFO = 2600 miles
JNB-ACC = 2900 miles

All that ridiculousness aside - I'm not seeing the fares on UA?

Did you find it out of NYC as well? How many days do you need to stay?

Still available on ITA and through OTAs. You need to look beyond calendar for specific dates to have the fares come up. Routes through FCO on the return. Seems to work for most Africa destinations serviced by ET.

Any tips on how to book this from SEA (Dep. 11/3, Ret. 11/7) for the $1,001 price Google Flights and ITA show?

Directly through ET's site shows $1133.52. UA is higher. Thanks!

Try hipmunk to search. If you need to you can specify ITA routing codes on it.

LH also has JNB fares from the east coast at least for approx $1k through FRA/MUC. UA gives the RDM bonuses on LH, though not LX I believe.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought that ADD was in Nigeria, but it's nowhere near there.
