Ua bdl - hkg $881

Its hard to find good international UA deals out of BDL... Found this deal compelling 18K miles+ for $881 cpm 4.8.... Leaving Nov 6 - returning on Nov 9. There are even better mileage routing through Houston

BDL - HKG - BDL

Part of the trip from NRT - HKG is on Air Japan L class... not sure if it credits 100% UA.

Air Japan? You mean ANA?

Looks like it does for ANA on L-class...

Marketed by ANA but operated by Air Japan.. Somewhat similar to Austrian flights being operated by Tyrolean and Turkish flights being operated by 9W.

How does the PQD & PQM for this itinerary

If we book this through United. Will this credit 100% PQD & PQM on United?

No. With Star Alliance, operating metal is what counts. If you're on a JAL plane, 0%. It doesn't matter who marketed it.

Air Japan is not JAL = Japan Airlines

Air Japan is a charter airline doing business for ANA

So will this earn miles with UA on the Air Japan segments?

Flight Deals reports this for United out of the following cities. I have a $500 flight voucher for taking a voluntary bump that was going to expire so I used it on here. I'm okay with 16k EQMs for $380. Thanks for alerting!

http://www.theflightdeal.com/2014/08...ing-all-taxes/

Here’s what we found for United for about $880:
Boston [BOS]
Burlington, Vermont [BTV]
Hartford [BDL]
Providence [PVD]
Philadelphia [PHL]
Charlotte [CLT]
Miami [MIA]
Dallas [DFW]
St. Louis [STL]

It says dba ANA, so I would assume yes. Seems comparable to taking a UAX flight operated by whomever. You get credit as though you were flying UA metal.

Actually yes, and you are partially wrong.

As UA and NH has a TPAC JV, which means 100% RDM, PQM, and even elite bonus for this route (NRT-HKG) and any other US-Japan routes.

Yes it does, and the elite bonus as well, it is treated like you are flying UA metal.

It is irrelevant to look at the ANA chart on united.com, as this is a codeshare flight. When it is codeshare, the booking class will change and may not equal to what NH's booking class is. Even on your PNR will say UAxxxx, but after your trip on your mileage summary, it will say NH 911/912 instead !

It may be treated as though your are flying UA metal for those purposes, but not for lifetime miles, which require actual UA metal to count.
