AA: LAX-MIA-(DFW)-NRT-CGK-NRT-DFW-LAX $1012, 4.1cpm

Usually just a lurker. Was looking at the other LAX-CGK flights and found this that lets you fly LAX-MIA before doubling back to NRT through DFW.

The MIA-DFW-NRT is one flight number, so you lose about 100 miles as a result. But it's 24680 total miles according to gcmapper for $1012. That's 4.1 CPM, which is pretty darn good.

Q fares everywhere except between NRT and CGK both ways are S and they're AA code shares on JAL. You can do a 5 hour turn in CGK or have a full day (1am-10pm).

If this should be merged with the existing ORD/LAX to CGK thread, please do that, mods.

Pretty wide open availability to depart Monday and return Thurs through Sept and Oct on ITA Matrix.

What was the key to booking? I'd like to see if I could do this exactly one day earlier but I can't get the itinerary to produce on the AA website.

Can be tricky to get it to book on AA website. When i did mine, I put the closest itinerary that AA engine would give me and put that on hold. Then i called AAdvantage desk and asked them to look at that reservation and make changes X, Y, or Z and asked them to price it out like that and to make sure they were using the same fare codes I saw on ITA. They were able to edit my held reservation and then I went back into my reservations online and they were changed to reflect what I wanted.

I think if ITA Matrix shows you what you want then an AA agent will be able to reproduce that identically or very close in price.

What is the process at CGK Customs? If you gave no checked bags can you wait in terminal and reboard in 6 hours ?

Boogie711,
Via AA website I used multi-city:
LAX-MIA
MIA-DFW
DFW-CGK
CGK-DFW
DFW-LAX
Referencing ITA date & time.

Hope that helps!

What fare codes does it show? I ran in to this booking a previous CGK trip and the website only showed S where I wanted N. So I put the S fare on hold and called EXP desk. Asked them if it was available in N. They went off for a few seconds and then came back with the price matching the ITAMatrix pricing and I had them put it back on hold for me to book after confirming with friends.

Unsure. I'm doing mine Sept 21-24 so I can report back after I've done it, but a visa is $25 apparently, so worst case you end up paying that and walking out and back in, right?

There is a MacD just outside the Exit, so you could relax for a few mins before heading back in.

If you are Elite with One World there is two Lounges you can visit after immigration.

I'd rather stay in the McD's for 3-4 hours before heading back through. But that said, only 6 hours on the ground with those flight durations is not going to be good for a person. I thought about it and decided that with hotels available for US$45 a night it's worth sticking around a day just so I don't die.

I thought Immigration was US$35 at CGK, plus ~US$12 for departure?

It was raised in July so these numbers sound about right for what I paid last month.
