Advice- go right to the counter where you buy the visa, have exact change, and then get in line before everyone else.

Also, if you're on the 777-300 on JL and hoping for a row to yourself to lie down, avoid the exit rows/bulkhead rows. These seats all have immovable arm rests, even when not directly adjacent to an exit door. In comparison to the CX flight down though, the JL plane is nice metal.

As said above, definitely also a great trip for stumbling upon other Flyertalkers. I think I met about 7 or 8
Was great to meet the two of you! Might as well post the pic I took before we boarded the JL flt!

Thanks for the tip. There are 2 pages of instructions from the hotel on how to access the free shuttle. At 0100, I think the $5 cab ride is the way to go. No language barrier with the cab driver?

If you email the Sheraton hotel in advance with your flight information, they will have the shuttle waiting when you arrive even at 1 am. Nice hotel and they treat you well if you are SPG Plat.

Make sure you get all AA codes, and you will earn miles. See my example in post 163.
Such has been my understandign as well for AA. Is the same true when using USDM ffn?

Read somewhere US Air uses operating carrier's earning ratio.

We ended up taking the 'silver bird' premium cab, even though it was more expensive than the blue bird. After waiting for maybe 45mins to get through the visa lines, we just wanted to get to the hotel and crash. Was expecting to pay more, but it was $5 with a decent tip. No language issues, they know the hotel. I did have the address pulled up on my phone just in case. I didn't ask about the shuttle, mostly because of the reports that it wasn't the smoothest connection, but that's not based on personal experience. Sometimes on this long of a run, I'm willing to pay a few bucks to get there in comfort.

I believe that was the old policy. UA does the same (does all *A?).
But, according to this, you should get credit.

Will the miles I earn on codeshare flights be elite-qualifying?

Yes, all eligible travel on US Airways, American and other oneworld partner airlines counts toward elite status in either AAdvantage or Dividend Miles. Please note that miles/segments flown on non-oneworld American codeshare partners do not count toward Preferred status.

It says you'll get credit, but it doesn't state explicitly that you'll get 100% credit or that its credited just as a US flight.

The AA page at
http://www.aa.com/i18n/aboutUs/codes...tners/main.jsp

states:
The opportunity to earn AAdvantage® miles based on the policies that apply to American Airlines flights. A flight sold as an American Airlines flight also earns elite status qualifying miles.
So it's a bit more explicit that you get miles just as if on an AA flight.

People from US Air sub forum are reporting differently though. Their mileage is being posted and then reversed. SO it got me wondering if this is an issue of merger integration being incomplete or policies are still different on partners earnings.

Yes, you get 100% DM mileage credit when booking this itinerary completely on AA/AA codeshare (JL) when using your DM number in record. You're on oneworld partners so you are covered there. You're booked using AA flight numbers so you get 100% credit across all fares.

If part of your itinerary includes a segment on a oneworld partner and it's not booked as a AA codeshare then yes, the mileage credit can be much lower/nonexistent based on fare. This is most probably the issue others are running into.

Right. But the question still remains - is US looking at mileage credit on operating carrier (as it did for *Alliance) whereas OW partners give credit on fares for marketing carrier.

I don't believe there still is a question. Unless you can point us to someone who booked a codeshare and didn't get credit.

This is what I did. Hotel assistant manager met me in the luggage carousel area and escorted me to their shuttle bus for the short ride to the hotel.

All OW carriers operate the same way. If it's a codeshare with a flight number of your FF program, then you get credit as if it was their metal. If it's the operating carrier's flight number you get credit according to that chart, not US/AA's. This is indeed unlike STAR which credits based on the metal carrier's chart irrespective of what codeshare is shown on the booking.

That's how it worked for me yesterday. Nice Junior Suite and a 1930 extended checkout helped make a brutal trip a bit easier.
