For one way fares...does this mean I have to book 2 one way tickets to get this price?

Nope....the "One Way Fares" note simple means that a round trip purchase is not required.

Unfortunately these currently look gone....

US: Feb 2 SFO-PHL-ROC-PHL-SFO $190ai (5542mi ~3.4cpm)

Aloha everybody!

Sweet! I just booked SFO-PHL-PWM-PHL-SFO for $189.60 (5572mi ~3.2cpm), and SFO-PHL-ROC-PHL-SFO for $189.60 (5534mi ~3.4cpm).

I know nobody in either of these places and will only be in PWM for 7 hours (probably won't even leave the airport). Sadly, I'll have to hotel the ROC run.

I will have Premier Silver behind me by 03Feb.

I want 1K by June.

I will warn you that there isn't much to do at PWM, it is a fairly small airport. Portland is an awesome city, taxi shouldn't be expensive, bus is cheap if willing, lots of great seafood places in Portland. If you're going on a weekend, I might be able to help you with some places.

Make sure you hit Dinosaur BBQ in ROC and/or ask around for the best "Garbage Plate" --its amazing greasy spoon grub I grew up on. Rough neighborhood near Nick Tahoe's so don't venture around too late.

Thanks, BOS! This trip is a pure mileage run. I'm a n00b to mileage running. I haven't yet learned to construct complex routing to maximize mileage and lower cpm, but for me 0.032cpm (not counting the Premier Gold bonus, and credit card miles I get for total RDM's) seems to be a good place to start.

I've been travelling on business for 16 years now and I have never grown tired of being in airports, on planes, and even the horrendous travel days never seem to be quite that horrendous because I have the ability to just laugh as it all unfolds. I love people watching. And, the whole "points" game has always been a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Instead of using the miles myself, I tend to gift my miles to people and causes. A needy friend's kid needed to get to Yale for an interview. I used miles to get her there. Now, she's going to school there. A friend had a terminal illness and wanted to go home to his small town in Texas. I was able to get him there so that he could make his transition in peace. There have been numerous opportunities for me to turn my crazy obsession with being holed up in long slender aluminum tubes with hundreds of fellow strangers, into meaningful and memorable blessings.

One promise I make to myself is to see one new place every year. And, looks like Portland, ME will be one of those new places. Bus to seafood sounds just like the ticket to me!

Aloha and Be Well!
Alan
