Don't think the long legs (HNL-GUM and v.v.) are upgradeable with anything but a GPU, and this fare basis wouldn't be eligible for a GPU anyway.

Looks like you're right - I thought this flight would allow RPUs since its domestic 777s, but guess not

The island hopper leaves early in the a.m. so may require an overnight stay.

I had an overnight thanks to UA computers being down and arriving from IAH after GUM flight departed, but while offered SDC elected to spend morning in HNL.

Correct. Just did this twice in the last eight months, and sat in the back. FWIW, this 777 still has domestic FC and ceiling TVs, not even flat panel like 747 coach.

Nope, spelled out on UAL.com.

Turkish Airline Sale Nov''13/ Jan '14

Seems that TK is having a really good sale on many routes out of JFK and Chicago. Available in Nov this year and picks up again starting mid Jan next year. They book in W class which earns no miles thus I'm posting here.. but still quite good for some "exotic" destinations that are usually expensive. Also some out of the ordinary ones like Kabul and Benghazi...

Out of JFK

MLE- $869
CMB- $876
NBO- $769
JRO-(Kilamanjaro)- $927
JNB- $800
SJJ-(Sarjevo) $640
HKG- $827
DAR-(Dar Es Saalam)- $927
Kabul- $942
Astana- $743
Bishkek- $739
Accra- $918
Addis- $828
Benghazi? - $656

Quick ITA search shows fares as you've indicated for Nov. But on KLM flights. TK options way down on the list for NYC-JNB (11/26-12/10) priced after LH, AC+SA, and DL.
