IST-YVR $808 AI on DL 5.3 CPM

Hi Everyone,

I've been watching and reading and just now posting.

I've been looking for a good priced flight from IST-YVR-IST and came across one on Kayak for $808 ai on Delta

The exact routing is IST-JFK-MSP-YVR-SLC-JFK-IST

I tried to work out the route and price per mile on "Great Circle Mapper" and it seems to work out to 15,283 miles and 5.3 cents per mile.

Is this a correct calculation and would this be considered a MR-worthy deal or just a good deal (in my opinion)?

And Delta is a Skypass member, and so is Korean Airlines, which I often fly. But it seems that Delta offers a better return on airmiles. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which is the best Skypass member to put miles on?

Thanks in advance!
Alex
ps. For Star Alliance partners I put everything on my Air Canada Aeroplan card; it seems to have the best return. For oneworld I put it on my AA card...

That's 5.3 cpm, not .053 cpm.

A mileage run is generally considered <= 5 cents AI (all in ticket price) per elite qualifying mile earned. So this should really be considered a "good deal" fare. But it is close - and sometimes the earning ratio can be improved with some creative routing feedback from board members.

General mileage run EQM earnings rule of thumb:
<= 5 cents per EQM AI is acceptable
<= 4 cents per EQM AI is good
<= 3 cents per EQM AI is very good
<= 2 cents per EQM AI is excellent
<= 1 cent per EQM AI is ultimate

Thanks so much for the rundown.

So I guess that it's not bad considering I'd like to visit family there in YVR in any case.

And if all the segments can be used towards Delta's Mileage program then it is pretty much worth a shorthaul ticket within the USA/Canada.

I think that would make it a pretty exceptional ticket...

Thanks so much. That should teach me to post before my morning coffee...

I'll fix that now...

And thanks for sharing this one. :) I've modified the thread title to conform to the more standard MR Deals format of giving pricing all in, carrier, cost and CPM in the title as it helps readers scan deals easily.

Thanks so much.

I didn't want to post it like that in case I messed up.

When I get the hang of it I'll be totally standard.

And hopefully I'll be able to post some real MR deals in the future for the board...
