Question just a silly question? ORD-IST via AMS on DL

Let me start by saying I am new at all this...trying to learn (any/all info is welcome!)...

The ORD-IST ticket ((Thanks for posting this deal $596)) changes planes in AMS (both directions) - Do I have to use the AMS-IST & IST=AMS legs?

I would like to get off the plane in AMS and board the plane in AMS...The time and cost are perfect!

What are the written/unwritten rules are here?

Have you done this before? Is it allowed? Is it possible?

Thanks!

Unfortunately you can't do that. If you don't board the IST leg the ticket will automatically be cancelled

Unless if you book two one ways instead of a RT. Not sure if the cost will go up though (usually RT booking is required).

However, even if you can, airlines look down on that kind of stuff!
