Doesn't appear that DL is too much higher either. Seeing some AA routings under 4 cpm as well. And plenty of time to apply for the visa for China if needed, or to plan to keep the PVG stopover under 48 hours.
Dates into November as well.

$130, length varying depending on what you get approved for, max length is a year for non-China/Taiwan/HK/Macau born Americans. You can try to do a <48 hour stopover in Shanghai, but you will need another ticket to go to a third country.

If you plan to do the <48 hour layover in PVG make sure you print out a copy of the Chinese embassy details for your outbound flight. I had no problem in PVG but united in EWR didn't want to let me fly without a visa.

Great advice ^ I had the same exact issue - UA GA @ SFO didn't want to let me board for PVG last week, erroneously thinking I required an issued visa in passport despite my < 24 hour connection and onbound e-ticket from PVG to BKK. I had to show her the Chinese embassy printout and even then she went to the supe.

NY consulate only gave me 2 entries with six month window last year. I'm pretty sure I asked for 1 year window.
As for the deal, not too bad, Shanghai is nice in Sept/Oct.
