By Hawaii standards, this is a good deal. UA bay Area-hawaii fares have been hovering over $600 for awhile now, they cost about the same as EWR-HNL!

I think sub 300 for west coast to Hawaii is always a good rate... Maybe not for a MR though

Good fare - maybe even great.
AS has been working for a while to dominate the Bay Area market to the islands with various promotions and discounts.

A single datapoint: there may have been changes, but I got a visa to Uzbekistan with no problems last summer. Expensive, but IIRC, not the headache that Chinese visas are since 8/1. YMMV.

The VS deal is also available from NYC for $437, though it's operated by VS so I don't know how good it is for mileage runners. Still, great fare.

I've checked a couple of January dates and it looks like the deal is also good from IAD for $489. Books on VS metal so not sure about mileage...

Second this. I'd prefer NYC and VS metal...

Did anyone else notice VS fares (on direct, VS metal instead of US) dropping to £265 return LON - NYC for an hour or so earlier on today? It was bookable for a very short period on Expedia etc but disappeared soon after (at the same as the LHR - PHL fare went). Wish I'd been a bit quicker on this one!
