East vs west coast

For example, last year some very good deals to London ($1500 ai) and Madrid ($1200 ai) were advertised by late February, early March.
I think this a good mark, but keep in mind that it's much cheaper from the east coast then it is from the west coast. It's only a 7 hour flight from the east coast to europe, so fuel costs are less. From California, I would shift the entire specutrum you just state up one level, so great would be $2000 to $2500 in my book, and then it would go up from there.

Looks like the same sale to Scandinavia posted earlier.

JFK-ZRH for $2435 all-in
SEA-CPH for $2760 all-in
LAX-ZRH for $3256 all-in
This is the same sale that was posted earlier to Scandinavia. If you check ARN, CPH, OSL, and even HEL, the cheap fares from SFO are $2700. This is to match SAS's sale that has already been posted earlier in this forum.

However, if you check CDG, MUC, LHR, FRA, MAD, or FCO, you cannot get the $2700 from SFO, only $3500 to $4500.

So this is simply the Scandinavia sale that SAS started, and they're matching, it seems. It does not seem like a new, different sale from the one that SAS initiated to Scandinavia, at least for fares from SFO.

While most of the Emirates premium fares to the US have dried up, just yesterday a J fare from CAI opened up.

CAI - DXB - SEA - DXB - CAI

With a free stopover is DXB is right around $1,950 on EK. Travel dates starting March 1st and return as far out as late December.

Feb 23-27 works, CAD 3,312 on delta.com. The ITA Matrix search tool can help you find specific dates. It looks like it might be restricted to travel Monday through Thursday with a Saturday night stay requirement.

Totally support the need for benchmarking, but I'd stick to good old cpm. The 11.11. deal on LH was a fantastic one, depending on route - FRA-SIN r/t, with C accrual at double miles and 25% executive bonus on M&M came around 3.6cpm, if I recall correctly.

If buying C for pure pleasure (which I'm definetly inclined to do), let's raise the MR "bar" of 5 cpm to 7 cpm and say whatever is under 7 cpm is a good/great deal?

Your 7 cpm is irrealistic. For instance, last year the Delta J deal BOS-AMS-BOS (6900 miles) was $1500 ai. With a 50% class bonus this comes to 14 cpmqm.

No need for benchmarking. everyone has their idea of what's a great deal and what's a horrible deal. Just post away and if it's cr@p then people will ignore or say so.

Back to the deals, please!

My response was to Post 98, which calls for a "need for benchmarking", which is similar but separate from your response to Bago'peanuts.
