My bad, I was looking at BOS-PVG in March. Still, this fares are too high to be considered a "good deal".

For UA, the booking code is what matters. In this case, these book into "A" for Global First Class. "A" earns 150% PQM and 250% RDM. The routing I constructed above is 16,992 miles which earns 25,448 PQM and 42,480 RDM (plus another 16,992 RDM if you're 1K).

The routing rules are quite generous, so you could probably eek out a few more thousand PQM if you tried really hard. Be careful to book a 3-class plane on the long-haul segments ... you can also book into "P" for 2-class BusinessFirst using this fare, which is quite a bit less exciting (but still not a terrible deal).

Tons available from BOS still ... and every other market as far as I can tell.

For what it's worth, I don't mind blogs picking up this one too terribly much ... it's a fare sale/war rather than a mistake. As a note, both the AA and the UA fares have a ticketing deadline of Dec. 17 ... I expect them to be gone well before that, but that'll be the absolute last day to take advantage.

For you, perhaps -- but for me and others it was just the right deal at the right time. I think RT in NH F plus alpha for under 3500 USD is quite a good deal.

BTW, I also saw this fare to domestic destinations within Japan, albeit for about 300-400 USD more.

OOPS I made an error my flights booked into A, they showed P on ITA but when booking on UA.com they booked into A
However they say the tickets are not refundable.

I can't see it from MSP. Also tried ORD, since I could get there for an additional ~$200. Nope. Sigh.

I'd be happy to be proved wrong here.

Sorry, I meant all if the markets already mentioned--AA from IAH, IAD; UA from MIA, FLL, DFW, BOS, SAN, and STL. (Some are only good to China or NRT but not both.)

Talking MIA-PVG use 20% off certs.

hey a reminder to people the 20% off certs from the MIA-PVG $3000 fare works and saves just under $500.
