Always go to the webpage of the airline to figure the class designation you inquire about. Wikipedia is not always correct.

You'd think for something as standardized as IATA fare code, it should be the same across airlines.

No, NH uses Z for discount business, the same as UA. They also have P as a nonupgradeable business class fare bucket.

Actually just in the spring of 2011, there was a J class fare war out of BOS to Europe. I scored a buz ticket on UAL for just $800 to BRU via IAD.

Probably was UALs fleet of 777s sucks in J class.

Actually it might have been related to DL starting BOS-LHR. I remember some $400-ish promo fares by DL, it was what actually really got me interested in this (good fare finding and becoming really skilled at ITA, eventually leading to FT).

So if the fare code is Zxxxxx you have a discounted upper class ticket
If it's Kxxxxx you have a premium economy ticket
Thanks for the info!

So the Virgin Atlantic fare is Upper Class (fare code ZLAOOW). But sadly, all references to the cheap LX fare are now gone

DL ord-bru 1706 usd (via JFK)

Not sure if this an extreme good deal but wanted to travel over Christmas and y tickets were 1200 usd.

Booked tickets in business for 1706 which was 700 usd cheaper than AA.

See availability in October / November / December and February for this price.

Wow, I am finding SFO-BRU for $1687.10 in biz rt ai for select days February! No one else is even coming close. Requires a 12 hr layover at JFK, but for $30 more, you get a great connection at JFK. Recliner, not flat bed seat though.

From the fare rules it looks like this is an instant upgrade fare, meaning in case of IRROPS you may end up in Y:

Application
ECONOMY WEB FARE WITH AN INSTANT UPGRADE AT THE TIME OF
PURCHASE TO FIRST/BUSINESS
APPLICATION
CLASS OF SERVICE
THESE FARES APPLY FOR ECONOMY CLASS SERVICE.
CAPACITY LIMITATIONS
PLEASE NOTE-
BOTH ECONOMY AND FIRST CLASS BOOKING INVENTORIES
MUST BE AVAILABLE AT TIME OF BOOKING.

Nonetheless, it's a great find.

Still alive this AM. Seeing SFO-BRU on DL at $1,694.09 RT, one stop via JFK/ATL, on these dates. ORD at $1,683. Nonstop JFK-BRU at $1,454. On Cheaptix.

Nice fare, thanks for posting! From MSP and on delta.com, I'm seeing $1791 for midweek travel on a few dates I checked from Jan to April, connecting through JFK or ATL.
