It could work and, if it does, you are on your way quickly. If you go into it prepared to pay for a night in a hotel and relaxed about it then it won't be too dreadful. The Hilton on site has good rates on Friday and Saturday nights, otherwise there are quite a few more economical places not far away.

The good news is that the rush hour for immigration should be over by that point, so you're likely to have little, if any, wait to get through. The bigger variability is how long it takes you to retrieve your bag and get through customs. If they get the bags out in a reasonable timeframe, you should be fine.

Interesting. I assume this is to save on the cost of towing from T5 to T3?

Or AA tossed them out? Or T5 gave them a better deal?

I'd be surprised if it's the latter, as mid-afternoon gate space in T5 is hard to come by. You could be right on the former, though; I forgot their codeshare agreement ends in April.

This...As the codeshare ends on 3/31. UA filed to codeshare with them so this could work out for all in the long run.

There has been a fair amount of speculation going around that AB may be leaving OneWorld.

AB may also soon be leaving the world of airlines that still operate.

Maybe it stays around if Etihad wants a LCC division.

There's some reconfiguration of the Customs hall taking place. For those who travel frequently through, the center exit will be shut down. I'll try to get additional details this week and post up.
