Connection Choice - MEM or DTW in Late Jan

Hi folks. Long time lurker, first time poster. I've got a flight on Delta/NWA to Amsterdam and I have a connection choice of Memphis or Detroit. Both times are the same, Detroit is a little better. I do not fly through either airport, only been to DTW once, and I am a bit concerned about flying through DTW in the winter as the connection times are tight. Does anyone have experience with flights in and out of DTW in the winter that they could share? I'd hate to get stuck in DTW due to weather related issues.

Thank you!
Mitch

DTW is pretty good about clearing runways etc in awful weather. What you can't count on though is the big winter storm coming through and not being able to get out at all. I'd go with MEM, though DTW is a nicer airport.

Thanks manneca, that is pretty much my fear and you confirmed it. I will be flying in from SEA with a 2h connection window. I would hate to get re-routed and have everything screwed up.

Memphis here I come.

I recommend DTW over MEM and MSP --- MSP currently has a runway down for construction and winter weather is a bigger problem in the 'south' than up 'north' where they're set up to handle it.

Worse case scenario would be a storm that causes one runway at DTW to be shut down for clearing while they use the other three.

Hardest part of using DTW in bad weather is getting to the airport !
