TLV car rental moving?? Eldan/others
Hi, I just received an email from Eldan (and I've got to imagine they sent it to everyone on their mailing list) informing me that their TLV office has moved to the new remote "car rental facility", with a shuttle bus to the terminal. Is this true? The email also says that all rental companies are obligated to move. So, will there be no more pickup/dropoff in the garage directly adjacent to the terminal? Everyone needs to ride a bus?
That would be really lousy...
Here's the email:

Haven't been through TLV in a few months, but will be there in 3 weeks, so updates much appreciated. Thanks.

Yup, all rental companies moved to T1. From what I've heard, it's a permanent move as IAA plans to build something else instead of the rental booths.
You have to take the bus from T3 to T1 (or from T1 to T3 when returning).

Unfortunately this is very true, and is in effect from April 10th.
In fact the move was supposed to happen Jan 1st, but kept getting delayed.
Had the pleasure if experiencing this yesterday when dropping off a car.
Not too bad, but you do have to add an extra 20-30 minutes now to your arrival time at the airport which is a bit of a pain to be honest.
As someone who frequently rents at TLV this is definitely a downgrade in service, but all down to IAA not the rental companies who I am sure would have proffered to leave things as they were.

Thanks for the very fast reply. IMHO, this is a very shortsighted move by IAA.
So, I take it this is a done deal, and all companies have already moved?
Did Hertz or Avis manage to retain pickup/dropoff for their elite members, the way they did when T3 was first built?
Thanks.

What are they going to build there which is so important, to cause such a hassle for passengers?
I wonder how often these busses will run (I can predict we will hear grumbling in the future, "I arrived during some quiet hour of the night, and it took me a hour from after claiming my baggage untill the car rental office, due to buses not running as they should be").

Actually I think I will like this better, the lot at T3 was a Royal PIA although very close by.
Most people complained here in the US when Airports started doing the same and putting up a Central building accessed by a general car rental shuttle bus for all the companys, but I sort of like it better

I dropped the car off at T1 yesterday like everyone else but if I can still pick up from T3 that would be great.
Not sure what there is to like better having to hop on a bus with heavy suitcases and schlep to T1 to pick up your car, though I agree the pickup area in the car park was a mess.

"Presidents Club cardholders: please approach the Avis counter at Terminal 3,level 1, above the arrival hall. The Avis representatives will supply you with your rental agreement and escort you to your hired car which will be waiting for you nearby"
for everyone else it says to go outside get on the rental car shuttle bus and it will take you to the compound near Term2 and thats where youd get everything
Car Return: go to the compound which sort of tells me Everyone must return them there even a PC holder, Unlike for pick-up no special paragraph for PC holders

Only issue I can see with this is that more often than not I end up asking them to change the car they have reserved for me or they give me a choice and in that case I would have to go over to the other area anyway...

Yes, confirmed to me yesterday by the Marketing director for Avis Israel (in regards to PC members anyway) and as you say, all returns are to the new facility at T2.
