This is going to be very bad... Hopefully the problem turns out to be minor.

Not minor, and it is indeed a major traffic nightmare going through Wilmington now. I came home from the Poconos yesterday, hitting the PA-DE border smack in the middle of evening rush hour () and it was just terrible. The four lanes of I-95 + I-495 funnel down to just two by the time you hit the Wilmington city limits, and the result is a giant traffic jam that backs up nearly as far as the PA line. To reach my house in northwestern New Castle County, I normally get off at 202 and use 141, but 141 and many other surface roads are also jammed now.

Take Amtrak if at all possible.

Ha. If only this could be fixed as easily. There is a bridge on 495 that's had its pilings dangerously tilted because some idiot contractor has been illegally piling hundreds of tons of dirt next to their foundation. Good that they caught it before the bridge fell down and killed a bunch of people, but this guy needs to be strung up.

Update today says south bound lanes reopening "by Labor Day" (that's ten weeks away), north bound lanes two to four weeks later.

I495 open in both direction. Now much easier access to PHL coming from the south, thank goodness.

Actually, I found out that Christie went to Univ of Delaware. So there may be some connection
