- This is the premium internet speed at the Springhill Suites, Downtown Phoenix. Yeah, it sucks like a Hoover.

That's not a hotel; just at my place. I wanted to try & see how to display the image worked and appreciate txpenney's instruction.

Quite a difference between my download/upload speeds! Wonder why? The upload seems really low compared to the download.

That's par for the course for consumer-grade ISPs connections, mostly to deter people from running servers and seeding BitTorrent.

I'm wondering if we should create a wiki reporting the property & speed (w/o) the image to make it easier for people to view what the speeds are vs. having to scroll through the thread in hopes of finding a property. This could be in addition to posting the screenshots or in lieu of.

Example:

Renaissance Brussels: Down 9.93; Up 8.16

Thoughts? (we're doing something similar in the properties who give points if you give up maid service thread).

Cheers.

I like the idea. Organize by state, then city.

... with the caveat that this exercise is relatively meaningless, right? I mean time of day, number of guests and what they're using the Internet for could mean that these numbers will look completely different if you measure them just a few hours away in either direction.

What would be actually useful (if near-impossible to obtain) would be the actual speed of the pipe(s) being used to feed the guest rooms (and perhaps a guest-room count).

Done, although since most put the property before the city it's listed as posted in this thread. Still, not hard to scroll through.

True, but it does give a general idea.

Note to others: If you've got 90 days/90 posts, you can edit the wiki yourselves following how it's done above.

Cheers.

.
Another big drag on the internet speed and bandwidth issues are the meeting rooms at a given hotel. Are there two hundred people at some convention all with their laptops or smartphones simultaneously attacking the facilities wifi? Or is the meeting being streamed to somewhere offsite?

Ethernet

WiFi

WiFi is better than shown at non-peak hrs. Ethernet is good all the time and always better than WiFi. No login page and no tiers of service.

Wifi

There is no differentiated access for member levels here. No login requirements either. Effectively available for anybody in the neighborhood.

And this is the Wifi from Fairfield Inn next door. This is available in my room as well.

It's amazing that Hilton brands use AT&T also but can't seem to manage those speeds...
