using Cat 1-5 certs - exp date for cert too far in advance?

on agent #3 now with Marriott reservations.

first two both made the comment that the certs we are trying to use have an expiration date (April 2015 & May 2015) so far in advance of today's date that they could not make the reservations we are requesting for a stay in December 2014.

of course this comment makes no sense at all.

So this 3rd agent is able to book the reservation but has to use points & we now have to call back in again this Monday to make sure points are not used & the certs get applied.

Seems amazingly inept for Marriott.

Anyone else have troubles using certs?

That makes no sense at all. Have you tried just booking online? Usually when you use the certs you go through regular award booking process & towards the end it will ask you if you want to use the cert or points. Try making a reservation online at the properties you already are holding with points, but apply the cert. If it goes through (as it should if award availability is there), then you can cancel the ressies the agent made.

Cheers.

The ONLY time that an expiry date has been an issue when using a cert has been when you have 2 certs with different expiry dates - the system will always use the one that expires first.

I agree with trying to just book the stay online.
