Redeem 4 nights, get 5th free - possible via certs?

Redeem 4 nights, get 5th free - possible via certs?
While booking through points, the Marriott.com website clearly shows only points for 4 nights when I book for 5 nights...it showed me using all 5 certs (1 day certs cat 1-4) and not 4.
Am I missing something, need to do it through agent than website, or the redeem for 4 get 5th night free is only when booking through points, not when we use our certs?

Only when you use points as far as I am aware.

Does not work with certs, this is why I use certs for shorter stays of one or two nights or stays longer than 5 nights (book 5 nights with points then tack on second res of one or two nights using certs).
