Per a phone rep on the rewards line:
15 nights = 25k
Double points after second stay up to 25k (on base points only)
There will also be a high nights/points option but I didn't ask about that one

The second bonus of the year ended on Aug 31 in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. Oddly in 2013 it ended Sept 2. The third bonus of the year started on Sept 15 in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Does double points after 2nd stay mean the first stay will never get the double points? Or does it mean once you stay twice both will get double points? Or does it mean you have to stay twice, THEN you'll start getting double points on subsequent stays, but nothing on the first two?

The promotion code is MY14.
If it doesn't show up online for you (after May 7th) try calling Marriott and registering over the phone. (This happens often to random Marriott Rewards accounts.)

Either way this is a pretty crappy promo. At least 2 cat 1-5 certificates netted a decent return, even if there are limited properties.

Actually double points could net us quite a bit if our stays line up right. For example, we stayed 5 nights in Hawaii over spring break and our base points were 17K. I wouldn't mind doubling that.
Edited to add that if this promo had run Feb, Mar, Apr we would have earned 40K just from the doubling alone! Unfortunately June-Aug, biz travel is slowing down and our big summer vacation is already booked at the Fairmont Banff Springs.

Typically you get the double points on the second and subsequent stays.
So a Plat using the Marriott Visa would get 30 pts per $ instead of 20.
I am underwhelmed.
Under a stay twice, get a free night promo, if I stay twice at a $100 a night FFI I get 4400 pts and a free Cat 4 or Cat 5 cert worth 20K or 25K points.
Under a double points promo, even after the qualifying stay, I get 6400 points for the two stays.
Hmm, 24,400 to 29,400 points or 6400 points, which is better?
Math:
Single points and cert:
Base 1000
Pt bonus 500
Pt gift 200
Visa 500
---------
2200 per night + half a Cat 4 cert = total reward 12,200 per night
Double points assuming qualifying stay already done:
Base 2000
Pt bonus 500
Pt gift 200
Visa 500
--------------
3200 per night total reward = a tiny fraction of what we would get with the cert based promo

Are you guys sure that the doubling part will include arrival gift, bonus points etc? or it will only double the base points?

But if I'm on a 50K for 25 nights promo, and made 25 nights with an average spend of 200/night, I could net around 100K points from double points + 50 K.
Bottom line, people didn't like the 1-4 certs. Many complaints here and on Insiders so Marriott is trying something new.
The other good thing with this one, is it is incremental. If you fall somewhere between the 4 stays for 2 certs vs the big number of nights for the points rewards, every extra stay or night gets you more points, even if you don't make it all the way to the top level.

Which is what gardener's analysis showed. Only the 1000 Base Points go to 2000. The other 3 line items are unchanged.
Dolphinyong - are you seeing something different? Or did you forget a "not" in your question?
So this is basically a wash with the SPG promo - double points. Though it makes the decision for May easy.
