Taipei Marriott Hotel (Opening in June 2015)

Hopefully it'll open by Feb 2015 just in time for a visit during Chinese New Year.
So Q2 is apparently correct because it is now scheduled to open JUNE 2015

Website still showing June 2015 Q2.

Walked past the area last week and the building looks substantially completed. No Marriott sign yet. Looking from the outside, the windows and glass panes were still covered up on the lower floors.

(Took some pics but still don't know how to upload)

Hopefully it'll open by end of the year

If they don't hurry, the Courtyard will open before the FS

i hope not, want to stay here next time i'm in town.

but speaking of the courtyard,

http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...rtyard-taipei/

it seems to have a December 2016 opening date, but the address is somewhere in Section 3 of Zhong Xiao East Road which is by the East Shopping District but when you click the address, it goes to the Nangang area, which in the other thread seems like where this hotel should be.

See: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...er-2015-a.html for the thread on the Taipei Courtyard. The open date is December 2015 - they corrected the website. The address is wrong (should be Section 7, not 3) but the map shows it at the right place.

For those who can read Chinese, http://www.chinatimes.com/newspapers...8000241-260210 has an article. It describes the 3 new hotels opening this year. In the table, first column is the name of the hotel, 2nd is the number of rooms, 3rd is the list of restaurants in the hotel and last is the meeting/banquet room sizes. The article now says July for the FS Marriott.

Just tried to book the new Marriott Taipei for this January--and it worked!

30K MR points per night--or a whopping lowest rate of $400/room/night lowest rate.

How does the Marriott's location compare to the Grand Hyatt where I have already booked using GP points?

So, it is a Category 6.

The location for the Marriott is not very convenient. You have to walk a few blocks to the MRT Jian Nan station and it is in the suburb of Taipei called Nei-Hu. The Hyatt is right in the middle of the Eastern/Xin-Yi district.

It all depends on where you want to go. There are many companies near the Marriott.

The Taipei Marriott Hotel page now states it will open July 2015.

Will this hotel ever open?

For those who can read Chinese, I found this article that is pretty interesting: http://udn.com/news/story/7241/77459...88%90%E5%BD%A2

It was an interview with the CEO in March. The CEO's tone actually sounded pretty grim about the whole development as the number of business travellers to TW keeps going down. Recent government measures to stop high end real estate prices from escalating is also hurting them.

The goal is to be a place where a decent-sized conference can be held that can handle all the needs (rooms, food, entertainment, conference) of the attendees. According to him, such a place does not yet exist in Taipei.

The Marriott website now indicates it will be opening in August 2015.

I was in Taipei 2 weeks ago but didn't make it up to the Neihu area. I just wanted to see if the actual hotel looked anything like the artist renderings on the Marriott website.

I just hope it won't say it will be opening in November 2015, as I am planning to stay there in late October
