I did that w/ my sister's airline account after she died of breast cancer. We had discussed it in advance in case either of us died on our mutual accounts. I'd rather my points go to a relative or a good friend than go to waste. She felt the same. Of course she didn't have as many points as I did, but hers did enable me to attend a FT Do.

The ethics meter doesn't really trigger on this one. This is something one could do (with mutual authorization and consent of course) while the person was alive.

Has anybody had success transferring MR points from parent to child after death? I am talking legally by sending in letter and death cert? Mom has over 250k points and she would roll over in her grave to lose those.

Change the thread title?

Maybe change "when you die" to "upon death"? I know, I know--I'm a bit squeamish.

I did come up with a life hack that may work for some. If you can log into the decedent's Marriott account you can buy gift cards. We have had a good time shopping with grandma's points.
