Is a paid + award combined stay (4 nights) treated as an eligible stay for status?

Hello FTers,

Sorry if it has been answered elsewhere.
Is a paid + award combined stay (4 nights: 2 nights paid and 2 nights redeemed at the same hotel) treated as an eligible stay for status earning? Is it understood as 4 nights and 1 stay?

Thanks!

Award nights doesn't count towards status, consecutive nights are considered as 1 stay...

So in your case, you should get 1stay/2nights credited into your accounts...

Thank you, Dolphinyong!
So a stay structure like (1st night: paid; 2nd: award; 3rd: paid; 4th: award) will be counted as 1 stay/2 nights? or 2 stays/2nights?

Many thanks!!!

Contiguous nights in the same hotel, no matter the check-in/outs, no matter whether some nights are awards or not, is considered a single stay. So the answer is 1 stay.

If you need more than 1 stay, then you must move to a different hotel for one or more of those nights (and have at least one paid night at that hotel as well of course.)

But this is better than using points on all nights, right? Have I read that (at least) one night should be paid during an award stay? Something about gaining the bonus points or getting more "spend" credits.

Yes they have varied rates and this combination maximizes the use of points for award stay while minimizing the money spent.

So I guess it is 1 stay; and possibly 2 nights (paid)?

Any insights? Thanks

Guess for status earning purpose, it is understood as 1 stay--and wonder if it is eligible for megabonus promo?

Thanks!

Stays don't matter for status earning at Marriott, only nights, a 2 nights paid 2 night award stay would count as 2 nights towards status.

MEgabonus are sometimes night based, sometimes stya based. This would be 1 stay towards stay based promos, 2 nights toward night based promos.

Thank you very much, escapefromphl and VickiSoCal!
Though my travel pattern looks a bit odd, I am ensured that it is a 1 stay and 2 nights credit! Thanks!
