Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services
The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee
Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.
Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.
Platinums receive:
* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)
* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points
* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.
* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area
* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.
Resort fee:
* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.
Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:
Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.
Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:
* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay
Other tips
The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.
The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.
The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".
If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.
And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.
If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).
If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.
Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Staying Here Now
Checked in Thursday on a three night reward stay. Will post a review/trip report at conclusion of our stay. At check in agent was clueless about MR program and plat benefits. But did send a 2006 Peju cab to room. We asked the first morning about breakfast benefit and received a 50 dollar dining credit. We have experienced some issues, but basically these are due to opening bugs. The service has been outstanding and all staff seem to express a genuine desire to make things right. The property is hopping this weekend, even though it is a slow time in Vegas. Every food venue we have tried has been superb!

Just here... property is very nice. Front desk agent was very well rehearsed with a canned "We are part of the Autograph collection and do not participate in MR benefits, including the $100 guarantee." Service has been an utter disaster on multiple levels, but I won't detail that as I'll write it off to opening glitches. (It was bad enough that I asked about the $100 guarantee, something I have only had to do maybe once or twice ever.)
Give it some time to work out the operations, and give it a shot - the hotel itself is beautiful. But there was no doubt they have been given a script now to respond to people asking about MR benefits - so don't expect anything there. I just hope that their citing "Autograph" so readily in their auto-reply isn't a sign of all future Autograph properties yet to come.

At participating Marriott hotels, JW Marriott hotels, Renaissance hotels and Autograph Collection hotels, you will always receive access to the Concierge/Executive Club Lounge during normal hours of operation. For Marriott hotels, JW Marriott hotels, Renaissance hotels or Autograph Collection hotels not operating a Concierge/Executive Club Lounge, we guarantee you will always receive your complimentary Healthy Start breakfast, Monday through Friday or we'll give you $100 USD. (Not available at resort locations).
Autograph Collection hotels participate in the benefit. The Marriott representative I spoke to yesterday at the hotel - said they consider this a Resort - hence they do not need to provide the benefits. I actually had the front desk manager open marriott.com and go to this benefit section.
After discussing this issue for a hour yesterday with several people at the hotel there was no resolution. I gave them my name and email and I was contacted by a very nice woman who is giving me a private tour of the hotel today. I will report back.
Marriott really needs to define the nature of this hotel. I do not know of any Autograph Resort properties. They should likely call it a Partner Hotel with no specific brand. The front desk should be using the words "Resort" not "Autograph" if they want to deny benefits.
Did you receive your Platinum arrival gift (or extra points)?[/
The front desk agent really had no information about MR or the Platinum arrival gift. There was a lot of confusion when we asked about any benefits that they would honor. We did not get the rehearsed response to our inquiries that HeadInTheClouds got.
The agent offered to send a bottle of champagne to the room. But it did not seem like he considered it a Platinum arrival gift, more like a one off to make us happy.
No champagne arrived, instead we received a split of Peju 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon. It was excellent.

We just completed a private 3.5 hour tour of this wonderful property. There is so much in the hotel to see and do. The very nice person from Marriott who is temporarily at the hotel to get things set up arranged a tour for me and allowed me to bring our "Expedia FlyerTalk Mini Do Attendees".
This is really a fantastic hotel. It is independently owned and managed. However, our Marriott host is getting the new staff trained.
Current benefits include:
- Platinum arrival gift. This is a unique set of gift and of course the regular 500 bonus points if you choose.
- Platinums will get breakfast for two in the buffer - Wicked Spoon restaurant. For Gold it is still to be determined.
- Of course you get your stay credits and points. If you want Identity points you do not get MR points - so you need to choose.
If anyone from Flyertalk is currently staying at the Cosmopolitan, please PM me and I will send you the contact email of our host. She wants to make sure you are acknowledged.
Note, I am no longer giving out contact information.
There is no Concierge Lounge. There will be a Identity members top tier place - but it is small and only accessible to those members.
But this is very deluxe hotel. We got tours of 4 rooms types and these are really nice - super deluxe but not over done. This is well work a visit just to stay at this hotel. It is family friendly with a great outdoor pool area and area to play.
More later - but this is a must destination for all. The French restaurant on the second floor is a must to do. Also go all the way through the restaurant and there is an outdoor balcony cocktail area with a great view of Bellagio pool and the Paris hotel. This is a MUST.

Do you know if they have an "adults only" pool?

I was one of the lucky ones to attend cova's private tour today. Here are a few photos.
I won't bother to post suite photos because me and my camera didn't do them justice. I was not able to nearly capture the space at all. And besides, IIRC blogger folks like Loyalty Traveler (aka, satori) have posted a few online.
PS - I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in previous posts, but you want an odd number room/suite for the best view.
View from inside 26th floor suite.
From inside The Cosmopolitan Queue Bar pit!
View of the pool from 26th floor.

Great photos Boxo! Great to meet you as well. The eye photo looks better than looking at it in real life.

Another thing to point out is that the terrace suites and the corner terrace suites have kitchens and washer/dryers in the rooms. So if you are here for a week - that W/D would be real nice.

cova, you have a PM from me regarding the Marriott host contact at this hotel.
cova and boxo, thanks for the updates and photos. Based on what I've seen from other forums, looks spectacular. I'm specifically happy that they will give MR plats free breakfast and a plat gift on arrival. That makes it fair for any MR plats and consistent to the past trend on how they honor hotel chain programs in Vegas in the past (such as Planet Hollywood and SPG and hopefully Venetian/Palazzo with IHG) vs. how they honor their own players membership.
Will be staying there from Wednesday - Friday this week so I'm not sure if you get free breakfast at the Wicked Spoon buffet per night of stay or they only give you one pass for 2 people total.
Another question: If you choose to put your points into their Identity program instead of MR, do you forfeit the MR platinum benefits (breakfast and plat arrival gift).

I like the fact that the Identity program tracks all spending, not just gaming. I'm thinking of burning some MR points in March for a 4 night stay, but then signing up for Identity while I'm there to get credit for dining/drinking/gambling (and getting on Cosmo's mailing list for future offers). This could be the best of both worlds: using MR points for the room, and Identity to comp, or at least reduce the cost, for F&B.
I have heard that their have been LOTS of problems on the hotel side (reservation snafus, room keys not working, maids not showing up, etc.), but I will attribute these to opening week bugs (so long as they don't persist. I'm looking at you, Aria).

Hopefully staff members will not get annoyed by us Marriott folks since I'm sure it will be commonplace for them to have these discussions on a daily basis. I am greatly suprised that the "identity program" went with the same names, silver, gold, and platinum. That is just asking for SERIOUS confusion!
