Upcoming Limited Time Redemption Opportunity

On Tuesday March 24th Marriott Rewards will launch the 3 for 2 Resort Redemption Special. With this limited time award, members who redeem for three nights will receive the third redemption for free at 55 participating Marriott Resort locations.

More information, including a list of all the participating properties & a link to the details page, will be posted here on Monday night; however, here are the basic terms:

The stay must be completed between March 24th and September 7th, 2009.
When making your redemption reservation you must request the 3 for 2 Resort Redemption Special Certificate.

While I can not give you the full list of participating properties at this time here are some examples of some I know of now:

Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino
JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina
Renaissance Eden Roc, A Renaissance Resort and Spa
Desert Springs, A JW Marriott Resort & Spa, Palm Desert
Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountain
Druids Glen, A Marriott Hotel & Country Club

Please note these rewards can only be issued over the phone

This essentially means an award is priced the same as before the rate went up at the beginning of the year [so my 6 night category 6 that cost 120,000 points early this year...then became 150,000 points (assuming the redeem 4 nights get the 5th free)...is now back to 120,000 points (redeem 2 nights get the 3rd free x 2)].

If I did my math correctly, this is nice. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed on the properties.

I might take advantage of the promotion - however I'd like to applaud the decision to announce this in advance here... I know other hotel groups tend to preannounce decisions/events/promotions/items of interest on flyertalk for their more 'commited' customers.

As such - thanks for the heads up Marriott - hopefully this will become a regular occurance!

I wonder whether this will include the all-inclusive option (might be nice if unlikely...)

PS: Probably a good idea in the current times to entice members to a resort, where, without the free posibilities of a free breakfast Marriott's incidental earnings are going to be higher, smart move imho.

I also appreciate the pre-announcement here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is really only a benefit for stays of 3, 4, 8, 9, 13,14, etc., nights, correct?

Very interesting inasmuch as Druids Glen is not even listed as a resort in the Marriott Directory.

The New York Times Travel Section dated 3/22 has a nice mention of this promotion, so even non FTers have gotten some advance notice

The Times confirms Ira's advisory and adds something else of interest (boldface mine).

Starting Tuesday, Marriott will offer its Marriott Rewards members a third night free when they redeem points for two consecutive nights, and two free nights to those who redeem points for four consecutive nights. Valid for stays through Sept. 7. (More details will be provided on www.marriottrewards.com after March 24.)

Timing couldn't be better! Have 10 days planned on a travel package to Hawaii next month. 7 Days already booked at the Wailea Marriott with the TP cert and have been looking into booking the final 3 days on Oahu... Tuesday I will now book the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa at Ko Olina for the last 3 days! Thanks MC!
