Marriott Elite Status advantages valid for both persons?
Hello,
I will stay a lot in different hotels this year and could probably quite easily become the Marriott Gold Elite membership (50 stays).
I think Marriott offer nice things (best available rooms, access to the lounge, complimentary breakfast, etc.) - can I also take my girlfriend (which stay sometimes with me at Marriotts) to the lounge and will she also become a free breakfast - or this is only valid for me (as I have the gold member status)
If the advantages are only for me, can you recommend me a hotel bonus program, where the benefits apply to both persons (is the the case at Hyatt?)
It has been my experience that benefits such as CL access apply to all of those travelling with you (of course this doesn't relate if you're travelling with a large group) so if your gf was travelling with you then she too would be entitled to access to the lounge. The only time I have ever seen an issue with anything related to this is on the weekends when properties offer TFB (Two for Breakfast) for elites and there are more than two people travelling in the party.

I am sure that you do not intend your girlfriend to become a free breakfast.
Thank you very much for the fast answers. - A last question:
"Guaranteed Concierge/Executive Club Lounge* access applies to regular hours of operation at Marriott hotels, JW Marriott hotels and Renaissance hotels worldwide. For Marriott hotels, JW Marriott hotels or Renaissance hotels without a Concierge/Executive Club Lounge or if the Lounge is closed, the guest is entitled to receive a free Healthy Start Breakfast, Monday through Friday."
So, at weekends there is no lounge access and no free breakfast for Gold Elite Status members at Marriott Hotels?
As a general rule of thumb no, lounges are not open on the weekends and properties are not obligated to give elite members breakfast. HOWEVER a few properties do have concierge lounges that are open on the weekends (see the "Concierge Lounge Open on the Weekend" thread for a list) and a number of hotels where the lounge is closed will give breakfast coupons (ranging from healthy start to a full breakfast) to Gold and Platinums (although sometimes you have to ask). Hope this helps!

They are not required to have lounge access or free breakfast. In general, properties in Asia/Australia tend to be the most generous in offering free alcoholic beverages and better food. Non-US properties tend to have lounges open on weekends while a few US properties (Renaissance LAX for instance) are open on weekends. Others, like the Washington Dulles Marriott Suites, will have a breakfast benefit everyday (they have no lounge).

my two useless US miles worth are that every time you book online, put down as number of guests X (X>1) and that should ensure you get the bene's upon arrival. One note, just make sure that X>1 does not increase your rate or limit you availability of room types (so always check guests =1) as well

I am quite sure the OP does not speak English as his first language - otherwise he wouldn't say "my girlfriend which" he would say "my girlfriend who" (unless his girlfriend is the latex inflatable love doll type, then "which" would be grammatically correct).
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this at Asia Pacific hotels... when I was at the Ren Suzhou, they kept trying to tell me that the lounge access was only for the gold member and no one else (I was with my family... they finally relented, but said it was a big exception). It seems in general across chains that the lounges in China at least are always staffed by someone checking you in at the entry point and restricting the number of people who can enter. Is it because they tend to be nicer (more food, drinks, etc.)?

In all hotels worldwide I have seen that the lounge benefits extend to guests in the elite members room. If you have a 2nd room with family in, this could be where the qualification becomes an issue. I have been told that other travelling with me and not in my room were not allowed access (non family members).

It seems to be that the newer hotels seem to have that problem more than the established ones. My wife didn't have any trouble accessing the lounge in Singapore, Shanghai, or Sydney. But I stayed as some of the newer China hotels and the staff there hadn't really learned all the ins and outs of elite rules yet. But once I talked with a manager, I didn't have any issues.

Bringing this one back up as for the first time since becoming Gold I will stay in a Marriott with my wife and 2 year old son later this month. The hotel is the newly opened Marriott Dubai Habour Hotel & Suites. It does not appear to have a lounge. I am assuming from the comments above my wife and I should be give a free breakfast. However, it may academic as we are staying from Thursday to Monday and if they enfore the "Monday to Friday" rule then we will only benefit on the Friday morning.
Does anyone have experience of the policy of this hotel or others in Dubai/Middle East?

Friday you may get nothing, Weekends are different days of the week in the ME, so Fri maybe out but Sunday in, or they may simply say Fri-Sat-Sun is Weekend and only free breakfast is Mon-Thurs
In my experience, my travelling partner sharing the room with me has always had full GLD/PLT privileges, wherever in the world I might be.
What if this is the other way round - that the stay is reserved under the name of my partner, who is not an elite member, but I am a Gold member, can we expect to receive Gold elite status treatment on this stay when the name change is not possible?
