Lifetime points are missing from the profile section of the website and show as 0 in the Marriott mobile app. However, you may be able to use the work-around referenced in this blog post to see your current Lifetime Points.
You can still view your lifetime points online with the following steps:
If you call Marriott they can also tell you your lifetime points balance.

To check lifetime balances: (HT to txpenny)
1. Click "Night Detail".
2. Click "Learn More" (under the night total)
3. Click "Marriott Rewards Overview". At this point you're probably no longer logged in (because you've been thrown to an older version of the Marriott website), so log in again.
4. Click "Nights" under your current year's nights. -> The detail you're expecting showing LT nights and points will show up like before.
Lifetime Silver Elite:
250 qualified nights
1.2 million points
Lifetime Gold Elite
500 qualified nights
1.6 million points
Lifetime Platinum Elite
750 qualified nights
2.0 million points
To check your point and night balance, log into your account and click My Account > Account Overview > Nights.
"Elite Lifetime Status is determined by your total qualified nights stayed and points earned throughout the course of your membership – including your paid nights, Elite rollover nights, meeting nights and the nights and points earned on your Marriott Rewards Credit Card."
Points used by members to buyback their previously attained Elite level will be permanently deducted from their Lifetime point balance.
If an elite's point level drops below that required for the level attained, they will drop down to the next Lifetime level until points are accumulated to get them back to the next level.
Lifetime points in addition to nights now display on your Marriott Rewards account. When logged in, click on "Nights" (the blue link below the number representing your current year nights). You'll see the detail of what comprises your current year nights as well as your Lifetime Status nights.

I agree. I've already got the points for plat emeritus, but only enough nights for gold.

Is anyone in the position of enough points but not nights for a level? I just had stay 600 but am only at 1.28M points, even with $220/night full-service stays over the last year, and almost all full-service stays over the last 12 years. The points seem to be the actual limiting factor, unless you stay in a lot of resorts.

To date, your Marriott Rewards account reflects 21 years as a member, 847 lifetime Elite nights, and 4,376,284 total points accumulated. I got 11 so far this year so I have 142 to go. It should be 2009 somtime.

In the last 12 months I accumulated 224K points on about 60 nights (3800/night), and this year was bonus heavy plus $220/night stays. I did spend 2 yrs. at the San Ramon Marriott for $110-120/night, and I don't recall many bonuses back then, so the same 60 nights would yield only 100K points (1650/night).
I guess that all averages out to the 2150/night. Getting 5000-5200/night must be a lot of single nights, high rates, bonuses, and credit cards.

Also, some of us rack up points by buying MVCI timeshares and/or exchanging them for points.
Last purchase of two weeks in phuket netted me a bonus of about 460K points.
Plus, last year I bought 2M points at 1 cent per point when they were selling them at that rate (unlimited purchases then).
Nights has been my hardest metric. Just reached 1000 nights last year, but still plat by staying 75 nights a year.

CPRich, you're not alone....I've called up Marriott last month and hashed out all of my point totals and night totals and it will be much easier to get the nights than the points.
As it stands, assuming I keep my Premier Visa for at least 6 years after 2008 then I only need to average 38-39 nights for the next 6 years to achieve Platinum Emeretus. Sadly, I am nowhere near the necessary point amounts with only 1.35 mil.
I know why I'm lacking in points, unfortunately it's outside my control to remedy this. Part of this is the negotiated rates that are typically under 200$. Requirements to pay with a corporate Amex instead of a Visa also limit the earnings and of course not being able to utilize the Visa for promotions also hinders possible bonus points one would accrue.
I need to be accruing ~6000 points over the next 273 actual "butt in bed" nights to get the necessary points. This isn't counting any possible promotions or use of my Visa card. Which means my corporate stays should be in 600$ a night rooms. I don't think many are paying those kinds of rates on a consistent basis. Not to mention the bean counters would have a fit if they saw those kinds of numbers going on my expense reports.

I have 1.9 million points with 537 nites. I can make Gold Emeritus easily before I retire in 2.5 years, but Platinum impossible due to the nites.
I planned ahead and converted tons of American Express Membership Rewards points to Marriott before they shut that door (in Dec 2004 iirc). Then I cash in Award Packages, sending the miles (120K at a pop) to American Airlines. That way I double dip as I double launder the points Amex->Marriott->AA. The points count toward lifetime status on both Marriott and American.
As others have pointed out, lots of ways to get points (buy them, Visa card, convert from Amex) - but only one way to get the nites and that is Butt in Bed. OK, you can get 15 nites a year with the good Visa card, but that is a drop in the bucket when looking at a 200 nite deficit to cover.

By the way, I now am certain that the 15 nights a year stay credit with the Signature Visa do count toward Lifetime status. My night count is up to 537 as of Dec 2007 and without the Visa nights it would only have been 522.
My forecast is by the time I retire in July 2010 I will have about 750 nights but close to 3 MM points, so I will then be Plat for the balance of 2010, then drop to Gold for a 5 or 6 years until my personal stays plus Visa nights gets me up to 1000 nights.

My average per night spend is very low. In fact the current hotel I'm at in dallas (Just north of downtown) is the most expensive corporate rate I've had in over 5 years at $125/night.
Last time I checked (end of 06?) I was under 1 million points but over 500 nights.
I'll reach 12 years in 2012 and should easily have the 1000 nights but points at this pace will be dicey.

As I remember it, you could only buy like $1000 at a time. I kept buying for several days.

I didn't have that much free cash at that time last year, but I bought 25,000 points before the deadline. I doubt if that many people outside of FT knew that Marriott was going to change the rules after a certain date, but I might be mistaken. That is why I doubt if a lot of people actually bought a bunch of points before the rule change.

I was a member of the "didn't have a clue they were changing the rules" crowd. Ended up having to pay for a few nights at County Hall as a result. It's also when I started lurking in these Forums to see what else I didn't know.
